Does it matter who's name is first?

When your entering information to make a booking and you have "your information" and then the rest of the party does it matter which adult's name is the "your information" section and who ends up as the rest of the party? For the record were booking with a TA so I know they would make any necessary changes for the cruise but we will be booking flights, hotels, cars etc on our own. Mainly thinking it might make a difference for travel insurance maybe I guess this is our first cruise so I'm not sure. I want to have all my ducks in a row when were ready to book.

I can't tell that it makes a difference to DCL. When I go with my family, if my grandmother is in the room, her name is the name they greet us with when we call room service, even if 1) I made the reservation, and 2) I'm the higher castaway club member. I think they go with the oldest person in the room for the "name" on the room. Not sure that it makes a difference, though.

Whoever books the cruise is the top name they use. If I book it, it's my name. One time they put my husband's name because it just came up that way, but it doesn't matter. I would say make sure the name of the repeat cruiser is first so that you get the returning guest gift.

Order doesn't matter for gift. My son ( repeat child cruiser) went with my in laws who had never cruised and they received a Castaway gift. The reservation was booked in my father in law's name

If there is any chance one of the adults may need to back out of the plans, do not list that person first; it just makes things simpler to drop another passenger in the room rather than play around with the lead name. Otherwise, it shouldn't matter.

Enjoy your cruise!

Well considering its myself and my fiance as the 2 adults and we are planning on getting married on the cruise I sure hope one of us doesn't back out haha. Thanks for everything everybody. I know im just paranoid but I wanted to make sure to check everything out so I didn't have any last minute surprises.

Actually, the "lead name" thing isn't so important any longer. Now you just have to have one of the names remain on the reservation, doesn't have to be the first one.

Well that could be a problem! Sorry, I was thinking of a family and maybe one parent had job responsibilities that could negate travel at the last minute.

Best wishes on your upcoming nuptials and enjoy your cruise!

I have always been the one to book, but it's my husbands name on top.

One time they put my daughter's name (for some reason) first, but she was a minor. So I had to call and have them correct it. Drives me crazy when they choose the husband's name over mine when I am the one booking it! What am I, chopped liver :lmao:

A few weeks ago one of my wife's clients invited us to attend their annual banquet. During the reception she met with the organization's leadership and did some general networking, while I just stood in the background. When they introduced us, they announced me by name and "his wife." She was not amused.

And I don't blame her.....ugh.

Its really just important to remember the name booked under and the birthdate of that person. You need that Info to look up your reservation online
