Booking a extra night for arrival

Hello everyone!

In august I’ll be in Disneyworld for my first solo trip in 10 years :D

I have my reservation in Disneyworld at All star music from the 3rd of August, but, since I found a great deal on a flight, I’ll leave on the 2nd of august and arrive in Mco at 1am.

I have some ideas, but I’m not sure what could be best:
- I can book one extra night at ASM, it’s not that expensive and It could be easier and convenient (but I guess that I’ll be there like at 3 am in the morning 😵‍💫)

-I could book one night in the Hyatt regency in Mco, no fuss and I would be straight in my room, but it’s quite expensive compared to the all star…

-I can look for another hotel in the area for one night, maybe near to a Publix or some place where the morning after I can buy some groceries (usually I use garden grocer, but could be a new experience xD). The only inconvenient would be taking a taxi both at my arrival and both the next morning.

I’m not really in a tight budget, splurging a bit is ok, but I’m debating myself on what would be more efficient and would make more sense (since I’ll be alone and I’ll be full of luggages, I’ll stay in Orlando two weeks).

Any recommendation is welcome :D
Thank you!

Personally, I'd stay at the Hyatt at MCO. Paying a little more at 1 am is worth it for me to get a little more sleep and then start the trip the next morning.

My vote goes to one check-in instead of two - hands down winner!

I’ve done the first night elsewhere a bunch of times at WDW, and it really made me appreciate how much nicer it is when you don’t have to move and check-in a second time.

Just imagine waking the first morning and not having to think about moving. You are already in your room and ready to start your trip! That part is so nice. Pair that with a grocery delivery.

Because otherwise you might not even get your ASM room until the afternoon. And stopping off for groceries in between rooms potentially opens the problem of what to do with the groceries. I would not prefer to check into one room at 3am, checkout and get groceries, arrive at ASM, need to bell check my luggage and groceries, then go back to get it, then get my room settled… vs the plan above. You’ll have everything squared away sooner with less steps required.

That my opinion anyway 😁

To add, I’m actually doing one night at BWV before moving to our more permanent room at VGF. But there are some other details that make it more acceptable to me this specific trip. For one, it was going to cost several hundred more dollars to add that Saturday night at VGF 1BR over BWV 1BR. Plus we’ll have a rental car. And my family will utilize Sat night and Sunday day at Epcot and HS.

But the tradeoffs don’t seem worth it in your case, where I’d much prefer to go directly to ASM.

Stay at the AllStars. Although most of the chain hotels in the airport area have shuttles, it'll be a pain to do this at 1am, and not all hotel shuttles run 24 hours. Given that you'll have lots of luggage, I'd book *Mears and take the bus directly to ASMu. One check-in instead of two, and not a whole lot of transportation hassle compared to an airport area hotel.

*If you don't want to take the Mears bus, you could book a car service. We used Gear Fusion last spring. Nice drivers who handle the luggage, ready and waiting for you when you get to luggage claim. It was about $100 plus tip. If you are looking for convenience, I'd do this and go straight to ASMu instead of spend the money on the hotel in the airport.

I would suggest adding a night to ASM. You are going to be tired no matter which option you go with so at least this option puts you in the same bed for the whole trip.

As far as your flights, August is a long way off. I'd set some Google alerts for better timed flights in case the price goes down. I don't know your itinerary or if there would be any change fees, but I could see prices dropping so maybe you can book something more convenient. Also, watch for any schedule changes. If the airlines change any of your flights you might be able to move to better timed flights or even move the whole outbound flight by a day for no added cost or fees.

I would book another night at ASR and keep watching flights to get a better time. If you could get an earlier flight at the same good price you could get more park or Disney Springs time. We did a similar thing and made it an adventure. Our package was at POP but there was no room available the night before. We took a room at ASM, dropped our large bags at luggage services as soon as we arrived, had them stored overnight and Disney moved them to POP the next day. We had a nice relaxing evening with dinner at the food court and started fresh the next morning.

Another night at the All Stars. It's easiest and cheapest.

BTW, you may or may not be able to get Mears Connect at 1 a.m. I got into MCO around midnight about 3 weeks ago and there was no one at the Mears counter in Terminal C. I hadn't prebooked Mears Connect, so I can't speak to what it would've been like if I'd done that, but I was quite surprised that no one was there.

Thank you everyone!

I appreciate all the suggestions and yes, probably only one check in will be the best option :)

I will flight from Italy and, unfortunately, with no direct fly to orlando I will lose anyway the first day, that’s why I went with this flight! The price was lower that the last Time I went to orlando and being a really busy holiday time I decided to grab it (other flights have been going up in price in the last month).

Thank you for sharing all your ideas with me ^^
