Does Disneyland have difficulty emptying the park?

Goddess and Dreams have it right. I might add, when we were there last year I was wearing a long sleeved shirt. After a couple of requests to see my wrist band, which was hidden below my sleeve, I just rolled up that sleeve one turn, past the cuff, and had no further requests from the CMs.

The cast members also do not stop checking. All through the night, as we went from one land to another we were checked. I thought it was well done.

Warning: story of a completely unnecessary death ahead

In June 1973 an 18 year old who was violating Disney's rules drowned while attempting to swim across a private water mass that is not meant to swim in and probably has so much bacteria in it that his skin was massively irritated the moment he entered the water. He and his 10 year old brother stayed on the island area of this private property after closing when they knew they were not supposed to be there any longer by purposefully taking cover in an area that they never should have been in to begin with because guests aren't supposed to be there. When they decided to leave this section of the private property that was closed already to the public - most likely because there was nothing to do since the Park was closed - the decided to swim across the gross waters of the river since there was no other way off the island, given that all other options cease operating once the Park closed, something the short-sighted boys probably failed to think about in their plan. They chose to swim even though they knew one of them did not know how to swim, a choice that one can clearly see upfront is not a wise choice since drowning is such a common occurrence when one who cannot swim enters a large body of water. Well, truth be told, they most likely did not "choose" to swim, but we're left with no other choice since the private property was closed and all operations had ceased for the day. The victim, rather violator and trespasser, attempted to carry his younger brother on his back and drowned halfway across. His body was found the next morning. The younger brother was able to stay afloat by "dog paddling" until a ride operator rescued him. Tragically, he will spend the rest of his life remembering the death of his brother, a result of the two youth choosing to ignore numerous policies and rules after a day at Disneyland.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe they realized that it would be as fun as they thought, and they thought they were trapped? They are kids after all. They could have been doing it as a protective instinct, for safety. And to edit the story like that was horrible and rude. This is why I am losing faith in humanity.

Are you trying to justify the actions of those two people by claiming "They are kids after all" and that they broke the rules because a safety instinct??? :confused3

The older one was 18. Definitely old enough to know not to break the rules. I have no problem with the edited story. Doesn't diminish the sadness of it, it just provides a more realistic picture of what the situation was actually like.

I am not justifying. I am mentioning that we don't know the full story. There could be an element that we don't about, like a survival instinct. Or maybe they got stuck somewhere. No child deserves to die for one mistake. I apologize format wording to make you think this way.

I believe at MK my niece and I were the last ones out one night. I'm really allergic to smoke and so I stay in the parks until the crowds clear a lot. I've had a bad asthma attack outside DHS once so that's how I try to avoid another.

We took photos, watched the Goodnight Kiss, checked out the wishing well by the castle (since I can't go near there in the daytime as there is a smoking area nearby) and went to the bathroom.

We watched as all the CM were closing up and getting things ready for the next day. We slowly made our way towards the front of the park.

When we left the park the outside area was almost completely deserted. They still had some buses coming for a few people waiting at some of the stops. By the time I made it up to the area where it splits for drop off and pick up I was asked what resort and was told to go to a nearby drop off #. My niece and I had our own private bus back to the resort.

What's "The Goodnight Kiss?"

It's been a while since I saw it but if I remember correctly there is a message/song and then some lights on the castle. Nice to see at least once. I'll have to find the video of it and check it out since it's been a few years.
