Does anyone think Poly is a good purchase?

I just heard a segment on the radio today talking about how various companies up sell and get people to spend more, go with their product and keep their product. It's pretty much sleaze, advance level and little different than the cigarette industry's historic approach. And Disney has their share of such approaches.

I do think the Poly is a good option for a small subset of people just like I think VGF is, however the group that it's a good fit far is much smaller than the actual number that will buy there and most all should be looking to get a fixed week IMO.

I bought a fixed week 44 lake view 168 point contract today. That's the border between Oct/Nov so MNSSHP some years, MVMCP in other years, F&W every year. Used the booking window today to release the guaranteed week for a different week this year, and to add 2 days (3 rooms each day) to my large family BC trip in June. 288 points booked.


My observations:

1. My DW approached me about Poly after our recent trip, that ended at the same time the member discount ended, so didn't have time to beat that deadline.

2. My wife loved the studios at AKV so a studio should be OK. She loves the Poly and its location. We have BC points, so the plan now is Poly for F&W (the EPCOT monorail is as close as the Poly monorail), and BC 1BR in late Spring (Storm-a-Long Bay!).

3. Would have preferred a W/D with the extra space.

4. I think the bungalow points will overwhelm studio booking once the resort is sold. We'll prob opt out of our fixed week for first few years depending on availability. As the resort sells, I think that having the guarantee will be more than worth it.

5. I guess I'm going to be going to Disney until I'm 98. (I can hear Jiminey Cricket singing now, "I've booked Poly till I'm 98, cause I'm no fool...")

6. My BC contract is Apr UY. I had to ask for a different UY for 2014 points. Poly is June UY.

7. Do I think it's worth it? Apparently, I do.
