Does anyone need a custom challenge?

I am following WW. I have already said that I will stay at one point above my minimum daily points (18), but I would like to add my exercise points back in.

I do Curves at least 3x per week, but I don't really add that in, because I don't think it's intense enough.

What I need to be challenged on is faithfully journaling and doing another type of aerobic exercise. I need to get back on my treadmill, but just haven't been able to drag myself down to the basement to do it. (The treadmill is what I will add my points back in for.) Alex, just tell me how many times and for how long.

Does that sound challenging enough?

I need a custom challange. I have posted a journal "Kathy's journal" for details about my situation. The thimbnail is that I had vertical banding a year and a half ago. Lost 70 gained 35 back.

According to the Dr. I can take in calories twice a day (max 20 minutes) and drink non caloric non carbonated beverages all day. I should be exercising.

I work 6 - 7 days a week long days (10-15 hours). High stress job (Director social service agency). I am a stress eater.

I need to lose about 90 lbs.

Anything else you need to know.

Disneyaholic....
works for me....
4 times in the next week.. for 30 minutes, if you can't keep running for that long...walk untill you get your breath back and go again...repeat as neccesary

Kathy... I saw some of your posts and I have to admit I am scratching my head a little bit. I'm not going to hit you with a challenge right away but I would like you to consider 2 things. If you are really not sure why the operation isn't working right have you considered getting a second opinion? What about seeing a nutritionist. I just have this unsettled feeling that something isn't quite right here......

Alex,

I want to try to do things the right way first. I see my Dr the middle of May. He said if I follow the instructions and don't lose weight then he will do a tset.

I know part of the problem is that I am not exercising. Also I got this really bad addiction to Cheetos. They just melt so I never got full.

I really want to be able to be able to stay on track for the next couple of weeks. It is 10:00 pm almost bedtime and I te right and dran a lot of Crystal Light (5 liters). I am definately going to have to switch to decaf.

Today, when I would get the urge to eat, I would read and post on WISH. :bounce: I can't believe how it helped. :Pinkbounc

Just a quick check in. I have managed to NOT eat after 8:00, AND get the exercise in. . .despite a stressful 2 days. I MUST be on the right track!

Alex,

Maybe my challange can focus on exercise. I started walking today for the first time. I walked 2 1/2 miles in 45 minutes.

I have also increased my fluid intake (Crystal Light).

I think a challange will help me to keep focused.

ok... were you comfortable doing the 2.5 miles in 45 minutes?

Okay bring on the challenge- I've decided (your words kept ringing in my ears - "if it's working don't change it!!") to stick to Slim-Fast for a while. It's just way too easy and I don't have to bust my budget buying all that protein for 3 meals a day. Here's where I am- I'm walking 2-3 miles M-F and biking for 30 minutes on the weekend- I try to go the the Y for strength training- need to be more disciplined with that one. Maybe if you challenged me to do more Y- elliptical machine/bikes/treadmill/nautilus that might keep me going- what's your idea?
It really took weighing in today (10 pound loss since 4/1) to convince me don't mess with what's working. Thanks for the sage advice-
Tara

I was OK. I walked 2 1/5 miles again today and it was a little harder, but I did it! My legs are a little sore, but I am determined!

I am excited. DH walked/ran with me. He does need to lose any weight, but he is out of shape. Our five year old walked/ran and played. It was a great family activity.

Alex assigned my tortur---errr, I mean my challenge on Sunday, so I wanted to report in. My challenge was to swim laps (4 times @ 30 mins ea) and eat 3 servings of veggies each day.

Today's Wednesday, and so far, so good. 3 veggies each day so far, swam laps on Sunday, Monday, and about to water race with DS right now.

Some of these muscles have been asleep for awhile, so we're taking lots of breaks. But I'm not giving up!

How are our other losers doing with their custom tortur---errr, challenges? ;)

lmhall..... I think that is a really good decision!!!
ok try this one on....increase your daily walk to a 3 mile minimum every day with one 4 mile walk during the week...
and go to the gym for weight training at least twice during the week...being very careful not to overdo it and hurt yourself!

KathyFP.... excellent! I'm glad your family went with you that will make it so much more fun and easier!

KathyTX.. good job!!!! hang in there

Checking in Sir Alex. I have been very good about the water (school days are a cinch since the air in a school is always dry), I've exercised every day AND I've not eaten after 8:00 pm.

A funny thing happened last night at 10:00. I hadn't gotten home until almost 7:00, so it was a late supper for me. Round 'bout 9:45 I got a craving for an English muffin with raspberry jam. I popped it in the toaster, and it came out a golden brown, I wasn't even thinking (no butter, no jam) and got that thing up to my mouth and THEN it clicked in. I put it BACK in the toaster and had it for breakfast (warmed up) this morning. I guess that I really didn't need to eat it at 10:00. Proud that I did it!

Okay, 3 miles every morning and one 4 mile walk- hitting nautilus two times a week- I will start the challenge tomorrow (Thursday) until the following week. I CAN DO THIS, I'M VAIN, I COVET, AND I WANT THAT CLIPPIE!!

Thanks for torturrrtelling us how we can meet the challenge- and Kathy- outstanding swimming!! Keep it up- you'll be whizzing past ds sooner than you think!

LOL! I don't think so, Tara! He's much more aerodynamic (aquadynamic?) than his mom. I have a bit more drag to compensate for!

I'd like a challenge Alex. I'm 5'4" and right now weigh 145lbs. I started the Wish Challenge one week ago Monday and my starting weight was 148 lbs. I'd like to lose a total of 23 lbs for a goal of 125. My weakness is carbs and salty foods. I am not a sweet eater and couldn't care less about giving up chocolate, candy or desserts. Now giving up pasta, pizza and bread, that's another story! I bought the Atkin's diet book, but am having a terrible time sticking to it. I usually eat two eggs and two slices of bacon for breakfast, but am getting sick of it. For lunch I usually have a scoop of tuna, chicken or seafood salad, or a green salad with veggies and cheese. At dinner I usually break down and have some type of carb such as pasta or rice, but I try to limit it to about three times a week. The other nights I stick to meat and veggies. I bought the Walk Away The Pounds tapes and started them last week, but only managed to do it three times (I'm too busy watching the Flyers in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, LOL). I am leaving for Disney in two weeks and would love to lose about 5 pounds by them, but it isn't looking too good. I drink my water like a good girl, so no problem there. Also, in the evenings I've been eating sunflower seeds as a snack, but they are keeping me bloated with salt. Plus, now I think I may be allergic to them, cause I'm itching like crazy tonight after eating them and a handful of peanuts, so I threw them out. Had to take Benadryl cause the itching was driving me crazy. Help!!!

Well, I started last Friday, and here it is one week later. I haven't a clue if I've lost weight this week or not, but I can say that: I have been excited to know that I don't need those crackers just before bed. I also know that I can do the Curves and WATP together~alternating days. Today, I did the tapes at 5:45 this morning, and Curves at 4:45 this afternoon. I will continue to work on getting the water in over the weekend. I'm pleased with myself. I just don't know if I got the next 1½ pounds down to get my new clippie. We shall see on Sunday.

Sounds like everyone is doing GREAT!!! There will be a lot more survivor clipart floating around the boards soon!!!

Theresa, in general, those with the biggest carb addictions are exactly the people that do best on Atkins!!. The problem is sticking to it because you can't cheat, not even a little or it is a waste of time. I think in your case a lot of what you need to do is shift your outlook a tad. First off switch around your breakfast foods, maybe simple things like ham instead of bacon. For your snack at nite try a piece of cheese. Look at some of the Atkins threads here and you will get all kinds of suggestions. You just need to keep from getting stuck in a rut.
You could lose your 5 pounds easily if you just stuck to atkins. Try the original Atkins challenge, it would almost surely get you there.. a lot of people lost 4 pounds in one week. Just make up your mind and go for it!

Okay, I'm going to do it. The original Atkins challenge. I'm going to start tomorrow, Sunday, May 4, as I've already screwed up today by using non-dairy powdered creamer in my coffee, and I can't give up coffee, so I have to go out and buy some cream today. Thanks Alex, for the push.

I survived the Webmaster Alex Tortur---errr, Challenge!

I ate my veggies (there were several late night broccoli and carrot stick snacks with lite ranch dip on days I was running short!)

And I swam laps. Lots of them. With lots of breaks. My legs felt like mush after just a few laps each time!!! That was *much* harder than I bargained for, but I did it. I will definitely need to work on strengthening my legs this summer...

Do I have permission to pick up my clip art now? :p
