I need a custom challenge, Webmaster Alex!! :)

It's not so much the weight, although I wouldn't mind losing 5 lbs., it's more the exercise thats an issue. Beyond starting into some gardening these days, I can't seem to get myself motivated into some serious workout sessions.

I can walk, and bend a little bit, but beyond that, I could really use some suggestions.

I look forward to some motivating counsel from you!

Kim :)

well before I can design a custom challenge, I need to know what you are doing now... what excersize and how often?

Alex I would love a custom challenge.

I am on a low fat/1200 calorie diet. I have lost 17.5 pounds since the end of February. The weight coming off is very slow going. One of my problems is that Im just too tired all the time to exercise. Because of Fibromyalgia I dont sleep well at night. I have the Pillates tapes and the Walk Away the Pounds tapes my problem is getting myself to do them. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

I have 30 more pounds to lose and I would like to lose as much as I can before July 3rd

Ok.. lvs_eeyore, I have to admit to being a little scared of this one....
I really wouldn't want to see you drop much below the 1200 calories...
with your fybromyalgia I am fearful that seriously increasing your excersize might trigger worse problems...
I think it's great that you can do what you can do!
I hope you have checked in with your doctor on all of this!!
I think walking might be your best bet, gentle on the body. With the weather getting nicer you can go outside get some fresh air and walk off some calories. How far can you comfortably walk now?

lvs_eeyore, it must be very tough for you, suffering from Fibromyalgia. :( If you're not sleeping well, no wonder it's hard to have the energy to do the exercises. A loss of 17.5 lbs. since February sounds pretty good to me, so you must be doing something right! :)

I don't suffer from any particular ailments, but I have a bum back, and have had 3 surgeries in the last year. My energy level has never returned to where it was before all the medical issues came up.

I used to be able to focus quite well, and be very disciplined, but these days, that seems almost impossible.

Alex, I'm basically doing very little, exercise wise, so I'm open to any suggestions. Please bear in mind that these are for a woman of a ...er..um....certain age...lol...no cheerleader cartwheels, please. :)

Snowwark,
well.... if you are doing very little you have to start from the begining right? The longest journey begins with a single step and all the rubbish?
I think you could start walking! Your challenge for the week is to walk 3 miles at least 5 times.

LOL Alex dont be scared of lil ole me. Im a lot stronger than I sound when written out. I have checked with my doctor and he is very happy Im dieting. The weight loss will actually help the fibromyalgia. Right now I get hit with it mainly in the back and shoulders. The only time it gets into my hips is when I do prolonged walking like at Disney. I can do my Walk Away the Pounds tapes with very little problem except getting myself to do them because Im so tired all the time.

well then you need a challenge... I'm not familiar with walk away the pounds...
but spring is here... get outside!!
Can you handle the same 3 miles 5 times in a week that Snowwark is doing?

After some gentle prodding ;) , I am here and ready for my custom challenge.

Alex, I'm a WW. The results have been good- I'm down 27 pounds since Feb 1. I don't have much trouble staying in my points range, but I do struggle a bit with getting the proper water and fruits and veggies servings in each day. I'm working on the water by hauling a 1 liter bottle around all day at work, and I'm getting better. The veggies are my bigger problem. I think I'm variety impaired! I tend to keep bananas, salad and broccoli on hand, but that gets so BORING. On some days I may only have 1 fruit/veggie in my journal.

Any direction for me?

Alex:

Can you help me? I am on Weight Watchers points and I excercise at Curves 4 days a week and use my stairmaster everyday. I would love to lose more weight a week.

Thanks,
Lyn

Walking the dog in the neighborhood. (Actually, being pulled through the neighborhood by the dog is more accurate.)

We have a pool, and it should be warm enough to use in the next week or two. I'll be swimming laps and playing volleyball with the kiddo for most of my exercise. Easy on the old joints, and combines fun with the work. I'm not a gym person.

lynr....did you see the original WW challenge locate here:
ww challenge

Make sure you look for the second one, the first one wasn't good...
If that doesn't work for you post back here and let me know!

WebmasterAlex:

I have been staying within my points range everyday but 1 day for six weeks and have only lost 15lbs. I each an average of 950 calories a day. Do you have any suggestions.

Thanks,
Lyn

GO DEBBIE GO!!
That clipart WILL be yours!!

lynr!!
why are you sounding dissapointed? what you are doing is PERFECT!!! You should shoot for about a 2 pound per week weight loss and you are right there... it's not healthy to lose weight too fast...

Okay, update to my exercise response:

My pool is officially open (sweet DH heated it!) My water exercise can start today- I'm headed out to spash with the kiddo and burn a few calories now.

So, Alex- exercise or vegetables? Or something more devious? Which direction will my custom challenge go? Hmmm...

ok Kathy...your custom challenge is....
to swim laps four times in the next week.. for at least 30 minutes, since you are just starting up it is obviously ok to take breaks.
That does NOT include time splashing around with the kiddo's but serious excersize time.
and to eat 3 servings of vegtables every day
:)

Day 2 for me.

I went to exercise at Curves yesterday. I am drinking 6 glasses of water and have not had sugar. Tomorrow I will be at Curves again and will keep up with the water.
