Does anyone here HATE dishwashers like I do?

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the IDEA of a dishwasher. But half the stuff you put in there doesn't really fit right. And then there is so much water left on the dishes when it's done!

Why doesn't a dishwasher BLOW the water off the top of the dishes or something while it's drying? Why does it have to fit underneath a countertop?

Anyone wanna reinvent the dishwasher with me? I know we'll be as rich as that Dyson guy.

You need a new dishwasher.

My dishwasher gets my dishes TOTALLY dry. I will say though that we had to replace the bottom rack and this new one isn't configued the same. None of the bowls fit well for some reason and I hate it. But I know that not all dishwashers are created equal.

I'm just curious - Where would you put it besides under the counter?? Have it be tall like a refrigerator? They make those roll-around kind, but those are a monstrous pain.

They are a necessary evil. They won't clean as well as hand-washing, but we'd never be able to keep up with our dishes without one.

I would love to have a dishwasher to hate! I've been dishwasherless for almost 10 years. :sad1:

I agree you need a new diswasher! mine easily cleans as well if not better than handwashing and totally dries things. I would NEVER be without my dishwasher.

I agree with the other person who said it sounds like you need a new dishwasher. Our dishes come out dry and clean every time. I do use the Jet Dry stuff as our dishwasher has this annoying red light inside the machine that stays on unless you put more in.

We have the double dish drawer style dishwasher and I still find it fits everything I need it to.

I love my dishwaster it cleans very good and the dishes are always dry. The only reason I have had water on my dishes is if one of my storage bowls get turned over and fills with water when they are being cleaned.

My DH prefers to wash dishes by hand as opposed to putting them in the dishwasher....what is wrong with him?
One pet peeve of mine about the dishwasher and my mom does this. She does not rinse anything off before putting it in there. She will make a piece of toast, put jam on it, and the knife she used to spread the jam will still have jam on in when she sticks it in the dishwasher. So, when she runs the dishwasher 10 hours later or even the next day the jam stuck onthe knife is like cement, and then she complains that the dishwasher doesn't clean very well...uugh that gets to me...people, please rinse your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher! Thank-you! :thumbsup2

My dishwasher cleans much better than handwashing and everything comes out completely dry.

My dishwasher manual specifically states that I don't need to rinse. And so I don't--usually. But I really never let my sit that long.

There have been occasions, though, where stuff did sit and you are right, even cream cheese turns to cement.

I love my dishwasher.
It cleans my dishes well & dries them if I choose that option (it's got a button to "heat-dry" if I want).

I am the dishwasher! I would love to have one to hate but my kitchen is so small there's no room for one. One day though...

I agree with those who say you need a new dishwasher.

I love mine, it's the second one we've had and when it breaks beyond repair I will want another.

If you use the drying cycle, your dishes should be dry when it's finished. Occasionally I'll have a tupperware bowl turn over if the dishwasher isn't completely full, then the bowl will be full of water, but if everything stays where I put it, it's all dry when it comes out. And I never have anything come out dirty. Mine has a "pots and pans" cycle and if things are really, really dirty then I'll use that and everything comes out fine.

Now that it's just DH and I in the house I don't run it every day, usually every 2-3 days.

And I do have a few "delicate" things (and the coffee carafe) that I don't want to put in the dishwasher so I handwash those things.

You need a new one. We paid about $700 for our and we are very happy. Sometimes, there is a little water left on the rims of bowls upside down that have a large lip but that is all.

We NEVER rinse unless it's a casserole. We always get clean dishes and I WILL NOT LIVE WITHOUT MY DISWASHER...and I will seriously hurt anyone who tries to take it away.

I didn't want one in the house we built 9 years ago. I didn't grow up with one and was fine without it, But for resale value my DH said that we needed to have one. I have used it once in 9 years.

Oh, I LOVE< LOVE< LOVE mine!!!!:cloud9:  :cloud9: I went five years without and got one a month ago. I am literally on cloud nine!! LOL!!

I like my current dishwasher too. It dries better than any I've had before, but I still do what I've always done with every dishwasher I've owned...

Using heated dry, when there's about 15 minutes or less time to go, I open the door, shake the top rack alittle (for those cup bottoms), and leave the door propped open. All the steam escapes and the dishes are perfectly dry.

And as for fitting dishes, they are all different and for me it takes 1 year to fully bond with a new dishwasher. By then I can get the art of filling it to it's highest capacity down to a science. And no one else can fill it as well.

My parents got a dishwasher when I was in the 8th grade. I always hated it. I don't think DH's parents ever had a dishwasher when he was growing up. We both prefer to wash dishes by hand, and we don't plan on ever having a dishwasher.
