We have a weekly paper in my town and sometimes they will put color pictures of things going on here. Events, wildlife, sunsets, etc.... there's a mixed bag of what they print. I'm thinking about talking to them and am curious how to get started. I was thinking of making up a portfolio of some of my nature shots.

Friends and relatives have told me to pursue this. If they were the only ones I'd just  and forget about it. But I must be taking pictures of things people want to see as this past Tuesday I had my third photo featured on the Fox TV station down here. At least I know they're not bias. :teeth:. Here's the photo I took Tuesday at sunset.

So if you freelance, how did you get started?

Look at that sky! FL has such amazing sunsets.

I don't freelance, but I did submit a photo of a fire to my local weekly paper and they printed it along with a short article. I talked to the editor afterwards and she said they love the extra help and encouraged me to submit pictures anytime.

Are you looking to make money or just for personal satisfaction?

Well honestly, both. This is something I'd like to do on a regular basis. We have lots of snow birds down here and what better way to advertise this area than by showing how beautiful it can be. :goodvibes

When I think of all the years I went to WDW and never left the surrounding area, it makes me want to cry. I often wonder what it looked like down here 20 years ago when the population was a fraction of what it is now. It must have been unbelievable.
