Does anyone else dislike Space Mountain? isnt it just overrated.

I love SM and we always ride it. DW went to Disney before I did and swears that the seats were side by side, and even I've never been able to confirm that, but she INSISTS that they were.

No, you can't see what's coming up or down next, yes, it is a little bit jerky, and sometimes I come a little out of the seat and then slam back down (which can prove painful), but we never miss riding it.

I detest Space Mountain. Partly because on my first trip I forgot to take my glasses off. See, I'm "that" person - once I start obsessing about something I can't let it go. I became convinced that my glasses were going to fall off, land on the track below us and that it was going to derail us and we would all die. And for the record I wasn't a child....I was 32 years old at the time. Lol

Space Mountain and Tower of Terror are my 2 favorite rides at WDW (I'm 53). I ride them multiple times each visit.

I've always loved Space Mountain and certainly don't consider it overrated. But as my body ages and the cars and tracks show their age, I'm less inclined to ride it.

My only other complaint is that the last few times I've been in it (over a decade ago), it wasn't dark enough. It's much better when you can't see anything except the black light reflecting off the other cars.

I absolutely adore Space Mountain. It was the first roller coaster I ever rode on way back 30 years ago when I was 7.

That being said, it's only my second favorite ride. Just slightly behind Tower of Terror.

It's my dd and DS favorite, but I can't ride it. Last time I did, I ended up with an awful migraine and couldn't do much for a couple hours afterwards.

I absolutely love SM, although I will agree as I get older I have noticed I can't ride quite as many times in a row as I used to. I have back issues and it actually bothers me less than BTMRR and RRC. Those I will not even ride many trips unless I'm with someone who really wants to ride, but my tradition is to start my MK morning off with a RD ride at SM. It just makes me smile! If my mom isn't feeling it that day she just hops on the people mover and we meet up after. SM and EE are about tied for my favorite Disney thrills!

Love it because i think it iconic. One of the 1st question i am always asked living here in the UK and and i have been to Disney is Did you ride Space Mountain.

I am thrill rides person aswell and even tho it actually not very fast the fact its in the dark makes yours senses more heightened

Last time I rode was in 2009. They closed it for refurb the day we left back then, but I refuse to ride it now anyway.

Like others have said, this used to be one of my and my dad's "must do's" every trip - we'd even gotten my mom (aka Mrs Chicken) on it prior to her hip and knee replacements. But a few years ago, I got off the ride and noticed my neck/shoulder were really sore. The following year (I was mid-40's and dad was mid/late 70's), we both had sore backs/necks after riding - so that was our last hurrah. I miss it, but for me, it's not worth the pain (literally) for the next couple of days.

I much prefer the DL version but like the WDW one except for one thing, getting out at the end. I always find I've shifted downward into a position it's hard to wriggle out. Takes much too long to find the places I can use for leverage. So probably won't ride it much in the future. At DL no such problem.
