So why has Bush been quiet thus far?? Why has Blair been firm about their immediate and safe return, but certainly not threatening??
Quiet? We're conducting our largest military operations to date in those waters and the White House spokesman said that Bush met with Blair and offered our full support. Our State Department demanded an immediate release of the British sailors, and we're leaning on other countries to support these efforts. That's not "exactly" quiet. We've been leaning toward escalating tensions with Iran for quite awhile.
A fascinating (and I'm sure totally unrelated) side-note: Iran finalized a deal with China for oil exploration worth about $100 billion just two days prior to the British soldiers being captured. Interesting, when you consider that the oil-rich area to be explored is Khuzestan, on the left bank of the Shatt al-Arab, the location of the disputed waters where the British soldiers were captured.
Can someone pass the sprinkle cheese?!
too?
