No, more people die. As evidenced by 9/11. The Iranians were so terrified of President Reagan that they let the hostages go the day he took office. They knew what was coming if they didn't behave.

Quadaffi and his flippin "Line of Death." :rotfl: Preesident Reagan not only said, "Screw you and your 'Line of Death'", he went over the line and bombed the guy's flippin house. Didn't actually kill him, but got one or more of his kids...and that was that. Quadaffi has behaved himself ever since. On 9/11 he was the first to come out and say, "Not me! I'm not involved! My country supports America."

When they know that screwing with us means they will die, they don't take hostages or come and kill us. Therefore, we don't have to kill them. And NOBODY dies.

When you get weaklings like Presidents Clinton and Bush, you get war.

What do you want to wait for? Mushroom clouds?

Got one or more of his kids and that was that?

That was another defining moment of ours. We killed his 1 year old adopted daughter in her crib and seriously injured his 3 and 4 year old sons. If that wasn't terrorism what is? Why is something like that OK with you?

Because that ended it. There was no terrorism, no 9/11, no war. That's a lot of lives saved!

And we STILL have no problems from old Mohamar. He now thinks that even threatening to kill Americans is a very bad idea.

Doing things your way ends up with tens or hundreds of thousands (it may turn into millions) of people dead, including kids.

I'm glad that President Reagan took care of Iran and the whole middle east and I wish we'd get another President just like him.

Exactly like that. Well, the second time, anyway. The first time wasn't enough to stop them. They just kept up with the killing.

Without the second bomb, they'd have NEVER stopped.

I fully support everyone's right to their own beliefs. If you believe in "turn the other cheek" that's fine. But when the whole country is involved, it is another story. You can't volunteer everyone's cheek because you don't like to fight.

I don't believe Iran for one damned minute, but frankly, that's irrelevant. Actions have consequences but you better be damned sure just how much consequences you're will to risk. This is NOT worth going to war over, at least, not at this point. Somebody screwed up big time in Iran and I wouldn't be so quick to blame the mullahs and Achme-whoever. Negotiate a graceful exit for both sides and quietly back away before things spiral out of control in a God-forsaken region in which it wouldn't take much. Never let the nuts run the show or dictate your foreign policy.

And you can't volunteer my cheek (or the world's) to get nuked because you are out for blood and are itching for WWIII to start.

Oh yeah, they're all itching for a fight ............ from a safe distance, of course. It's all part of the "bring it on mentality" while in the US and surrounded by Secret Service agents.

Whilst I can understand why folks would suggest going in with force, or the "actions speak louder than words" approach, I think there has to be an initial time for talks. The world has to see that the UK is a not an irrational nation prone to declaring war or other similar acts of violence without due consideration and without exhausting more diplomatic options first. It doesn't matter how "undiplomatic" the country we are dealing with is. If we don't engage in talks then the rest of the world (save of course the US) thinks that we are war-mongers, or extremely arrogant at the very least.

If that had happened to US serviceman, I would have been disappointed if we didn't blow their arses out of the water.

Um...Wrong again. She said she believes the GPS. If you hate her guts so much (which is your right), at least try to quote her correctly.

Now she does. What did she believe at first?

Even if I were really happy about war, I couldn't force Iran to take hostages or build nuclear weapons. They do this stuff because they enjoy it and think they can get away with it, which they have up until now. I would simply like a stop put to it (which saves your cheek along with mine, but feel free to go to Iran if you'd like to be killed.)

Being nice to them and understanding them is what will lead to our being nuked. Had we simply put a stop to all this crap a long time ago, we wouldn't have to worry about that at all.

I don't agree to going in with blazing guns, but I also don't think you can pacify a sackless wonder like Ahmadinejad. If anyone is itching for a war, it is that madman. He is enjoying testing the waters, so to speak. He is delusional and would like to believe that he is the puppet master. He is sitting back and watching how far people are willing to take this. Will the infidels attempt to negotiate?? Will they began making threats?? He is satisfied with either outcome, because he believes that he is in control and will let this go right to the line before he releases them, or allow the situation to escalate and turn into a miltary conflict.

Now she does. What did she believe at first?

I don't hate her, but I don't have her every quote at the ready either. If she said something before today saying she believed otherwise, why don't you just post it? Kinda late in the evening for games.

Actually, not understanding your enemy causes you to make stupid mistakes. Who said that:

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

- Sun Tzu "The Art of War"

I understand that it is less than desirable to have unstable countries (or leaders) having nuclear weapons etc. (If we go in, do you think we'll find them this time?) But does anyone else think that the climate at the moment is a bit like "Team America: World Police"?

Do you guys really think you are going to be "nuked" five thousand miles away at home in the US? Unless they transport the weapon in like they did in "Sum of all fears" then I would have thought it would be all the countries closer to Iran that would be worried.

It saddens me to say this, but as a Brit, I don't believe what my own government says, any more than I believe what Iran says.

As for what will happen; this will all be sorted diplomatically and we'll all have forgotten about it in a few weeks.
