Does anyone actually like Biergarten?

We really enjoyed it. But... my beloved Nana used to make wonderful German food and Biergarten just brings me back. :goodvibes

We love this place...it is a must do. I love german food so I may be a little biased...but the kids love the atmosphere and as long as they are not complaining then I am way happy.

I LOVE Biergarten. I'm not a huge fan of wursts (even though I'm half-German), but I can always find plenty of food on the buffet to stuff myself with. ;)

The roast pork is great, as is the chicken. And the salads are really good, too.

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the whole sitting-with-other-people aspect. The other families at your table can really make or break an experience.

Edited to add: I have had experiences like a previous poster. We've been seated with obvious non-drinkers who looked at us like we were trash for ordering beer with lunch. :p

As with everything else at Disney, you have to try it for yourself and decide. We loved it! My family (4) and inlaws (3) had a table to ourselves last Feb. over Presidents week. It was our first night at Disney and we had a blast. The kids (7-9) loved the music, the buffet, and the fact that it was loud and they could be loud. Food was good and so was the beer. Our server was great too. We were on the dining plan so I picked out almost every buffet because of the kids. Even though there were no characters, they really enjoyed it and cant wait to go back this February. My father-in-law especially loved the beer and the music. It felt like an Octoberfest. If there is somethingthat interests you, try for yourself and don't worry about all the negative things you read. Ive learned that some people are negative just to be negative. Others have 10 great experiences mixed in with one bad one and they are forever jaded. I highly recommend Biergarten. You should go for it and report back!

Love it. Will be eating there in 2 1/2 weeks. Can not wait for some good german food.

We love the Biergarten! Then again ... we're from Wisconsin home of bratwurst and beer :drinking1. I like the salads at the buffet, and I LOVE the spatzel. The wusrt are also pretty good and I also really like the mushroom sauce. We usually go for lunch when the price is cheaper. You miss out on only one or two entrees (Sauerbraten being one of them).

The only minus, IMO is the "family style" seating. We always get seated with shy tea-totallers. We're outgoing and we order a liter of beer each. Both groups end up looking at the other sideways. Look! They're drinking cola {{SHUDDER}}! Look! They're drinking beer {{IN FRONT OF THEIR CHILD}}!

:rotfl: long as you're not driving (in our municipality, they actually hand out WUI - walking under the influence/public intoxication citations...had a drunk stumble into a road -not a pleasant result).

Would think people would realize it has a octoberfest theme, and all that entails:confused3 one person's idea of boisterous fun, can be another's nightmare. Always nice to respect other's personal space, especially when in a communal setting. BTW, as an ex bar manager - everyone thinks they're funny when they're drinking, releasing inhibitions isn't always a good thing LOL.

We tend to not drink more than a glass of wine/beer in front of our children but, it's a personal opinion; would never impose my beliefs on anyone else.

even though DH is german, he hates the cuisine...don't they have good rotissere chicken?

We really like it. The kids LOVED it! They even told me that was their favorite meal of the entire trip. They danced the polka (together! :dance3:  ) and played the cowbells. My DS even took my camera and went crazy taking pictures of the band. They had a wonderful time but really ate practically nothing. We have had pretty good luck with our tablemates both time we have been, but I can see how that situation could be uncomfortable for some. IMO, the food is average, but the atmosphere is lots of fun.

Wow, I'm feeling guilty for never taking my mom to Biergarten! I thought my mom wouldn't consider it "authentic" enough since she's German. We're going down next weekend - maybe we'll give it a try.

(I hope the salads are good since I'm a vegetarian!)

Glazed Carrots
Cheeses
Macaroni Salad
Cabbage Salad
Tomato Salad
Spelt & Cucumber (My favorite!)
Potato Salad
Cucumber Salad, Bean Salad
Beet Salad
Assorted Breads, including Pretzel Bread
Braised Red Cabbage
Roasted Potatoes
Spaetzle
Potato Dumplings

Kid's Menu Includes: Mac and Cheese

There is also a mushroom sauce that may or may not be vegetarian.

We love the Biergarten, too. I lived in Germany for awhile and the whole atmosphere reminds me of a biergarten that was down the street from my apartment.

Great beer, good food, and fun entertainment! Even my picky 15 yo dd always insists we hit this place at least once per visit.

We have had good luck with tablemates except for one visit. We were fine with it but this family sitting with us were appalled. After arguing with the server about sitting there, the mother said very snottily to her husband, "Well, dear, meet the people we have to share a table with." They did not respond to any chit-chatting at all and were pretty rude to our lovely server as if it were her fault.

Last time, though, we shared a table with a lovely older couple who were very tickled with dd and her friend. They were a hoot.

The music, atmosphere and bier are all good - the buffet has left something to be desired on our past visits. I enjoy the communal tables, but not how some folks treat the buffet .

There are places we enjoy more, so I doubt that we'll be going back any time soon.

We LOVE Biergarten. We usually go twice each trip. Both trips this July were fantastic. The food is great here. I love Chicken Snitzel - YUMMY!

Huge Biergarten lovers here. This is pretty much a must-do when we're at Epcot. My greatgrandfather was German, and I grew up with my mamaw cooking alot of sausage, potatoes and sauerkraut. I sold my DH and DD's on German food here and we all love it. I love to put the roast pork on top of the spaetzle and top that with the red wine gravy...the pork topped with apricot chutney is also wonderful. The atmosphere is also great and the show is very entertaining. I highly recommend this place! :thumbsup2

If you are a beer drinker, try the Spaten Optimator! A wonderful dark beer that I fell in love with on my last trip! :drinking1

We have an ADR for Biergarten for our upcoming trip. I reallly don't pay that much attention to the bad reviews of any of the restaurants. If we think it looks good or sounds interesting we are going to try it even if someone else says its no good. Just like with a movie. Maybe one person didn't enjoy doesn't mean I won't.

Decent food, decent price, fun atmosphere - what's not to like? We've had a couple of enjoyable lunches here.

Thanks, Robin. Guess I'll cancel my ADR at Chefs de France next Saturday night! I hope we sit with fun people - my mother may not drink beer, but she will sing!

my family love the Biergarten. The atmosphere is great there. It is very entertaining. The food is so good but then again we're German so we just love it. Give it a try.

DD13 and I love it! Be sure to try the Chicken Schnitzel. The Wurst are all good too. Red Cabbage melts in your mouth. We were working at a womans house the other day who came over from Germany after WW2. She told me that Biergarten is actually as close to authentic as she has eaten in America and loves it. You wont be sorry. Enjoy!

YUMMMMMMM! We go there every trip! I was born in Germany but came to the states when I was only 6 but my mom is German so I got to have all of that wonderful food! ANYTHING with that wine gravy and purple cabage will just make your mouth water :thumbsup2 granted, it's not for everyone but just give it a try....it can't hurt! :thumbsup2 Yo Ho! pirate: pirate: Helen
