Dodd caught lying, throws Obama under bus

Dodd said he did not speak to high-ranking administration officials and the change came after his staff spoke with staffers from Treasury.

The White House did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment.

At a town hall meeting in Costa Mesa, California, about an hour after Dodd spoke, President Barack Obama didn't directly address the language change -- but said he'll take responsibility for the bonuses being awarded.

"We didn't draft these contracts. We've got a lot on our plate. But it is appropriate when you're in charge to make sure stuff doesn't happen like this," he said. "So we're going to do everything that we can to fix it."

In a round about way, Chris Dodd is implicating that he was told by the Treasury Department to GIVE AIG the bonuses. And since this "unamed" Treasury Department person ,is most likely Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner. Tim reports directly to Obama...therefore implicating that Obama knew last month and either did nothing...or was the "Mastermind" behind it all

Tim since becoming Treasury Secretary has still not hired a staff...which in everybodies eyes is . Also if you recall, Tim "forget" to pay his taxes too. Add this to AIG gave the Obama Campaign ALOT of $$$$$..Something aint right here.

Todays hearings (however messed up they were) OPENED a can of worms.

When Wolf asked specifically if it was Geithner, Dodd claimed it was "staffers". He knew no names, etc.; he was smart enough to give TG some cover. The CNN clip is out there and pretty funny. Dodd, hopefully, was wearing his Depends, because you could see it was one of those, "Oh, crap!" moments for him.

Morning Shows Deep-Six Dodd’s AIG Bonus Lie

Imagine that a Republican senator was responsible for inserting a legislative loophole that permitted the AIG bonuses to be paid. Imagine too that the Republican senator was caught lying about having inserted it. Now imagine the morning news show coverage. Working title: “Choice for Lying Republican Senator: Resignation or Hari-Kari.”

But when the senator in question is a Dem? Two of the three broadcast net morning news shows never even mentioned his name. The third did, but it would have taken a forensic wordsmith to figure our he had changed his story. Chris Dodd (D-CT) is of course the Dem senator in question. For the full story of what he did and how he lied about it, I commend this Hot Air item to you. Note that, as Hot Air reports, with video, CNN actually used the L-word in describing Dodd’s dissembling.

And so it was that I eagerly tuned in Good Morning America, the Early Show and Today this morning to see what treatement they’d give the story. At least during the crucial first half-hour, the name “Dodd” never darkened either GMA’s or the Early Show’s door. Chris Dodd? Never hoid of the guy. On Today, Savannah Guthrie did narrate a segment on the subject. It began with the president at a so-called town hall in California yesterday claiming to take responsibility for the AIG bonus mess. Wild cheering from the supposedly unscreened crowd.

Add Guthrie a bit later: “And as for Senator Dodd’s claims, Treasury officials say they did express concern about that provision that it would open the floodgate to lawsuits but didn’t ask him to change anything.”

Grading on a curve, Today and Guthrie get an ‘A,’ since they at least informed viewers that Dodd was responsible for the provision, and did identify him as a Dem. But the NBC show didn’t let viewers know about Dodd’s earlier denial of having inserted the loophole. The closest Today came was Guthrie’s mention that Dodd “now says.” Only listeners with the aural acuity of a bat would have understood that to mean Dodd had earlier said something different. And in any case, Today never told us what that something was.

So let’s give Today an un-curved ‘C.’ As for GMA and Early Show: FAIL.

I think Obama is alleinating Congress faster than Carter did in 1977. I guess Obama's statements about being responsible for the Bonus legislation but not being his fault can go down with Kerry's I voted for it before I voted against it. Obama should go back and review those Kennedy tapes. After the Bay of Pigs Kennedy said he was responsible but never added the codicle that it was not his fault.

Not a Good week for the administraton. O'bama on St. Patricks Day, Took some time to show off his College Basketball Knowledge by filling out an impressive looking NCAA Playoffs Bracket. Obama has legitimized thousands of hours of lost productivity by demonstrating that it is Ok to fill out the brackets during work. Also since the majority of those bracket sheets are designed to be used in illegal betting he seems to have legitimized that also. Poor showing by the Administration.

No, Its everyone's turn to suffer and it's only just begun. I'm sorry to tell you but you WILL be suffering right along with the rest of us if Obama can't get his act together and run this country competently.
