Do you wear your wedding rings on vacation?

What do you do with your rings on vacation?

  • My rings go everywhere I do, no matter what.

  • My rings go on vacation with me, but I'll take them off to keep them safe on occasion.

  • My rings stay home when I go on vacation. I send them a postcard.

  • My nice rings stay home and I wear a less valuable ring instead.

I was talking to a friend today at lunch and she mentioned that she doesn't wear her diamond engagement ring or her anniversary band on vacation. She's afraid something will happen to them. I've always worn my engagement ring and never thought about not wearing it. It's been on about 50 different roller coasters, in several lakes and rivers, and everywhere I've been since it went on my finger 7 years ago, including the UK and Paris. It's not a fancy ring, and not very valuable money wise (we were poor college kids when we got engaged), but it has sentimental value. So I'm curious if other people wear theirs everywhere, or if I should be leaving it at home. :) My friend even has a plain band she wears when she leaves hers. (Now, if I were going to a place where I might get mugged for a $200 ring, I might leave it home, but that's another story altogether!)

I never take mine off..Well I take that back I had to take them off 2 weeks ago to have surgery, but other than that they have never been off!!

I feel naked without them, but my DH has not worn his band in 11 years because of his job..

***Oh and I wear my plain band closest to my heart (it was 150.00), then I have on my anniversary band with diamonds around the whole band (it was 400.00) and then I have my 1/2 carat solitaire (it was 700.00)..lol

I take mine off at night, but other than that, they're always on. Dh never takes his off. :)

The only time my rings ever come off is for cleaning and when I have to mix things like meat or dough with my fingers.

I figure I'm not any more likely to lose mine on vacation than at home :confused3 In fact, I once had a coworker whose daughter lost her 3 carat engagement ring when she flicked her cigarette out a car window while driving home. She was going 70 mph down a freeway, and well...never saw it again. Talk about instant karma for littering and risking brush fire :rolleyes1

I always wear my band.

My wife always wears her rings, as well. She would never leave them home. However, we have been places where she removed them from her finger and put them out of sight, like in her pocket, when we were somewhere where it didn't seem prudent to be displaying gold and diamonds. She does have a plain gold band that matches mine and used to change to that on occasion but unfortunately it doesn't fit as well as it did 15 years ago so she doesn't do that anymore.

I wear mine on vacation but I leave them in the safe when snorkeling in the Caribbean...I don't like taking the chance of attracting barracudas!!:fish:

I never take mine off, I'm not even sure they will come off anymore. I had to once during a pregnancy when my fingers swelled, but not since then. I don't think I would even consider it, but then again, my rings aren't very valuable. I have a plain gold band and another gold ring with a heart and microscopic diamond that I wear on that finger, not much to others, but they mean the world to me.

I never take mine off...well...I have had my diamond setting worked on and cleaned...but never...never...take it off. I wouldn't even think of leaving it behind on vacation. Oh, and value $800ish.

I never take my wedding ring or engagement ring off! The only exception is when I go for my yearly MRI's.

My ring stays on my finger 24 / 7 with the exception of Water Parks. We have a Water Park here in Texas -- Schlitterbaun. The original part is fed from the river and the water is COLD. DH and I both nearly lost our rings b/c the cold water caused our fingers to contract (or whatever it is they did to get skinnier). So, now we always take our rings off whenever we head to a Water Park. Other than that the rings stay on our fingers.

I always wear my rings. If I'm uncomfortable in a place, I will turn the diamonds around so that it looks like I'm wearing a thick, plain band.

I wish I could take some of my other nice jewelry on vacation with me, but I don't. I worry too much about theft.

I took my engagement ring off for whitewater rafting -- I was probably being overly cautious, but I couldn't bear to lose it!

Other than that I will take them off at night, or if it's recommended -- I'll sometimes just wear the plain band if there's a chance I might lose the diamond.

I will not leave my home without them. In 14 years of marriage, I have forgotten them 3 times. Each time I went back home, no matter where I was or how long it would take. I can't function if I realize they're not on my finger if I'm out of the house.

My rings never come off... we too, were poor college kids. My rings are not worth much at all to other people. Just the world to me.

But, frankly, the rings are not easy to get off.. I pry them off occationally for cleaning, but other than that.. they are stuck there forever.

I don't feel comfortable bringing my real engagement and wedding rings on vacation (not really because of monetary value- much more because of sentimental value), so I bought a Diamonique set on QVC. Together, the eternity band and engagement band cost about $40- I would not feel upset at all if they got lost, damaged, or stolen. Plus, they look really different from my everyday set- it's fun to change it up every once in a while!

I also leave mine on, unless I am making meatballs. I take them off to clean them. Had to have work done to both my engagement ring and wedding band, they were at repairs for 7 days and I whined the entire time that I felt naked:rolleyes1 I take them off when working at Grandpa's farm because I don't want them to get caught on the machines. Approx value $15000. I am a little spoiled:thumbsup2

When we travel to latin america, costa rica or el salvador, i don't bring them with me. Lot of petty theives there.
If we are traveling to Disney or other us locations i bring them.
If I am in a place that makes me feel uncomfortable, I do flip the ring around so it just looks like a plain band.

my rings never come off
i had my engagement ring off once for my csection for the twins but the wedding band i left on, they said i had to take my ring off for the surgery i said no and they said just the band can stay on. i said fine!!
