Do you wear your wedding rings on vacation?

What do you do with your rings on vacation?

  • My rings go everywhere I do, no matter what.

  • My rings go on vacation with me, but I'll take them off to keep them safe on occasion.

  • My rings stay home when I go on vacation. I send them a postcard.

  • My nice rings stay home and I wear a less valuable ring instead.

I might take my ring off at night but other then that I always wear it. Value about $1500. My husband never takes his off.

I never bring my rings. Actually, I rarely wear them. I got out of the habit when my son was a baby. I kept scratching him when changing his diaper - now I forget to put them on most mornings. :rolleyes1

I take mine off in the house but if I leave the house without it, I feel wrong! I wear it everywear, I even ended up getting a new band last fall cuz my DH lost his on a waterslide.

My band value is about $800 and the engagement ring is around $6,000 or was 5 yrs ago when it was purchased. Haven't had it appraised lately but should for my insurance. My old band value is pricelss since it was used on our wedding day, but cost about $60.

I usually leave my engagement ring at home when I go on vacation, but wear my wedding ring.

When my husband and I went on our honeymoon in Aruba, I didn't wear either ring b/c I didn't have them insured and I was paranoid about losing them. Hubby wasn't as worried and wore his ring. However, we planned on buying simple gold bands while we were there to wear and use as "vacation" rings in the future.

My husband went snorkeling and lost his ring!!!!! He had never worn jewelery before and didn't notice it was missing. He spent the rest of the day fruitlessly searching the bottom of the beach. He wore the cheap gold band the rest of the trip.

Luckily, he was able to buy the exact ring again for half of what we originally paid.

So, I usually keep my ring at home. Don't want to risk losing it for sentimental reasons.

i never take my rings off except for when i was at the end of my pregnacies because my fingers swelled but i wore them on a necklace that i never took off

My rings go on vacation with me, but when we've visited certain countries on cruises I've left them in the safe and worn a plain gold band instead.

I had a friend who was murdered in the Caribbean in a mugging, stabbed to death in front of his wife on the street. I want to give them the least reeason possible to be a victim.

About half the year, my fingers are too swollen from the heat to where my wedding/engagement/anniversay set, and I often wear just the anniversary band anyhow.

I do not wear mine on vacation, actually I hardly wear them, Im always worried about loosing the diamonds. I wear them when I go out though.
But when I go on vacation and its hot and Im walking alot my fingers swell and the rings drive me crazy

I always wear my rings except when I take them off at night. I guess I'm so used to them that I would feel naked if I was out and about without them on. Plus I love them as much now as when DH gave them to me.

I bring mine on vacation. I do not wear them everyday though, or at night, because I developed some kind of allergy to my rings. I guess its not unusual and can happen anytime. If I wear them every day and night, I get a red itchy rash under the rings. So now I make sure to give my fingers at least nighttime to "breathe".:confused3

I am actually more concerned about the house being broken in to while we are away, than I am about the rings being stolen off of me. That said, I am going away soon (to an area where I may be concerned about being mugged) and I was trying to think of a good hiding place in the house! Anyhow, in short, I almost always wear them, no matter where we go. I feel like they are safer with me........................P

I rarely take my engagement ring on vacation, maybe if we are visiting family or going to a very special event. It is a heirloom piece, it is irreplacable to me and I would be devastated if anything happened to it. I feel better with it safely locked away at home. My platnum wedding band rarely comes off, even when on vacation.

I take mine off at night. I had my anniversary band soldiered to the engagement ring and the ring is really thick now so it would never just fall off!
My rings are insured though. Even if you lose a diamond, that can cost. We have an additional fee on our insurance for jewelry (I sent in the apprasials).

My ring stays on my finger 24 / 7 with the exception of Water Parks. We have a Water Park here in Texas -- Schlitterbaun. The original part is fed from the river and the water is COLD. DH and I both nearly lost our rings b/c the cold water caused our fingers to contract (or whatever it is they did to get skinnier). So, now we always take our rings off whenever we head to a Water Park. Other than that the rings stay on our fingers.

Thanks for the tip! I nearly lost my rings while swimming (in the sea); as I was swimming, I could feel the rings working their way off my finger. I'm heading to Orlando this summer - water parks included - and it NEVER occurred to me that I might lose my rings that way!

I keep mine in the safe in my house when I'm not wearing them. I also keep some other irreplaceable jewelry in there. A decent fire safe is actually not very expensive to buy, and you can bolt them to a wall, floor, or elsewhere for added security. We keep our insurance policies, car titles, real estate deeds, birth certificates, etc. in the safe. It's good peace of mind. Each of us has an envelope with all of our important personal papers in it to find everything easy. I also keep all the credit cards except one in there, no sense leaving those around either.

I always wear mine on vacation. Last time I thought I would leave my engagement ring home but then I was afraid my wedding band would fall off. Since I'm not used to wearing just that. I take my rings off while cooking sometimes and that's about it.

When DH and I were on our honeymoon he had taken his ring off while getting ready for the day in our hotel. We were walking to venice beach (more than a mile) when I looked at his hand and his ring wasn't there. Luckily the ring was still in our room after the housekeepers had cleaned. He obviously wasn't used to wearing a ring. I have to say I don't see him take it off too often now.

I very seldom wear mine at all.

Ahhh, so it's not only me! I almost never wear my rings... The diamond always scratched my DS when they were little, so I quit wearing them... and now I have gotten used to not having them on.. (besides, they are a little tighter these days:rolleyes1 and not so comfortable!)

I actually wear my rings more on vacation than at home. When I'm away I don't take the rings off to sleep or shower because I'm afraid of forgetting them in the hotel room.

I don't feel comfortable bringing my real engagement and wedding rings on vacation (not really because of monetary value- much more because of sentimental value), so I bought a Diamonique set on QVC. Together, the eternity band and engagement band cost about $40- I would not feel upset at all if they got lost, damaged, or stolen. Plus, they look really different from my everyday set- it's fun to change it up every once in a while!

Me too! I do not want to have to worry or turn my rings around when I am i an uncomfortable place. In fact, I have gotten a couple of good quality CZ too! Two reasons first, I do not want to have my rings stolen and second, my rings are a little tight and I do not like the idea of some one trying to rob me and then I cannot get them off. Call me crazy but I like having something that I do not have to worry about. I feel that while they are sentimental they are just objects BUT I am attached to my finger and would hate to have some criminal cut it off just to get to my ring.
