I used to always wear my wedding set until I started getting so much food (dough, cheese to name a few) in it that it was getting harder to have cleaned.;)

I lost my original set due to Katrina so last year my dh replaced the set with a gorgeous 3kt set in platinum.

Mine is platinum and I wear it all the time. Hubby never wears his since his finger is now bigger than when we got our rings. He is not a ring man.

I voted white gold because mine is diamonds all around set in white gold. Of course I don't wear the ring yet because we aren't married yet, but I will be wearing it all the time after I finally get it!

I wear my dh's which is a simple yellow gold band.

Mine is white gold, with 7 diamonds across the top half. I wear it with my engagement ring almost all the time except for when I go to bed. I don't like sleeping in jewelry.

Mine is tricolor braided gold. The day my DH took me shopping to see what kind of engagement ring he was going to get, he described what he wanted as a wedding band.

The first jeweler we walked into had exactly what he'd described. We bought our wedding bands before I'd even tried on a diamond!

(and I got exactly what I told him I wanted before he made me try on 2 dozen rings!)

Ohhh!!! My engagement ring looks identical to yours! :cloud9: (THe wedding band is just like the band the diamond is on, is color and width, just plain.) I havent been wearing them lately...the diamond fell out :scared1: (fortuantly one of the sharp eyed students found it!!!) and when they reset it they set it crooked. I cant seem to find time to get it re-done.:sad1: DH rarely wears his - works in the yard so much etc.... my dad never wore one either, doesn't bother me at all - he's still trapped!;)

mine is diamonds, white gold, & yellow gold.

Mine is starting to show a little wear and tear and may need to be reset. I don't want to, because I love the simple setting. When I just wore the engagement ring, my fingers looked so long. :rotfl:

I never take my rings off, except for cooking or baking, so that may be why it gets such wear and tear. The wedding band has one little worn down spot in the back on mine, but my dh's doesn't really show the distictions in the braid anymore. It looks like the different color golds just melt one into the other.

Our wedding bands and my engagement ring are all platinum.

The wedding bands have a bit of a story behind them. DH has dyslexia, which is of course a difficulty in learning to read. He had a lot of trouble with it as a kid. While he was still struggling to learn, he saw a fantasy book in a store and HAD to have it. The cover fascinated him--Dragons of Autumn Twilight, the first in a trilogy. Naturally, my MIL was thrilled any book interested him at all and she bought it. DH credits the illustrator of the cover with his ability to read, as he was so determined to find out who the characters on the cover were.

In Dragons of Autumn Twilight, the main character, a half-elf named Tanis, was engaged to marry an elf called Laurana (named after a real person called Laura, coincidentally). She had given him a gold ring with a stylized pattern of ivy leaves on it. The ring had a bit of a "journey" during the trilogy, and there's a couple of illustrations of it in the books. So, when we got engaged, DH requested that our wedding rings have that design. We got them custom-made--as well as the engagement ring, with a modern design sorta similar to Tiffany's Etoile--by a local jeweler/goldsmith. DH is allergic to nickel, so instead of gold we chose platinum.

Mine is yellow gold, and just a plain band to match my engagement ring. I wear it pretty much 24/7. My husband's is platinum, and he wears it on a chain with a Celtic cross.

Not to be dumb, but do most people getting matching rings (like a set) for each other? We each just picked out what we liked.

No, neither my dh or i wear our wedding bands. thanks to some theives who broke into our home the first Easter we lived here. We had them in a safe these guys took. I couldnt wear mine as I just had a baby and my fingers were swollen, and my dh can't wear his because of the work he does, would be dangerous for him to wear jewelry. We went up to NJ for the weekend to visit family and found our house upside down when we got home. I'm glad we werent here when these guys broke into our house, the prints the cops lifted off of our windows were huge! Celebrating our 25th anniversary on saturday, going to wear the bands we replaced our first ones with.

Here is a picture of my wedding band. I don't have an engagement ring, never wanted one, I'm not a fan of jewelry. Both dh and I wear them 24/7

I was actually going to choose a plain band for myself, and get DH the patterned ring he wanted. But he was absolutely insistent that our rings matched. :confused3 So they do.

Ours dont match - like you I got a plain band and DH got some funky design on his (he actually has two - lost one and we got a cheapie on sale to replace it - then he found the first one. Over 15 years he's 'lost' both a few times now - nice to have a spare when he does wear one!:) )

I do like the simple band on my engagemtn ring and w/ the wedding band being the same size even together they are pretty thin - w/ my big hands I think it does help to keep things simple.:) But, I really  your braided band - really pretty!!!:thumbsup2

Mine is white gold. I can't even remember the last time I wore it. We bought them based on the look of it, not on comfort. It's very uncomfortable. We keep saying we're going to buy comfort bands.....I do wear my engagement ring-it's beautiful & comfortable to wear!

I don't think there's a right or wrong way. I prefer to match, because I think it looks more special that way -- kind of stakes my claim on him, I guess :rotfl: . (Not that I need to, the man's a saint  .) But now that I think of it, most of my friends don't have matching sets. They both have yellow gold, or platinum, but not necessarily his-and-hers styles.

Maybe we need another poll :)
