do you wake up family members in your villa/room etc. when youre away?

I make a pot of coffee and get breakfast going (we stay in a villa).:laundy:

Now That's the way to wake people up on vacation. :thumbsup2

When I went w/my roommate who was used to working a night shift every day, we would set the 1st morning aside to let him catch up on some sleep & the rest of the trip, we would discuss plans & wake up times together. I never made any plans or reservations until late morning when I went w/him. We are night owls at Disney but no matter what, I am usually up around 7:30 the next morning & ready to go w/no alarm needed.

I always think it would be nice if I'd get to at least MK to see the RD show but I never force myself to wake up for it or rush. When I go solo, I tend to stroll in the park just after RD or sometimes a bit later. But since I do not have children, I don't take that midday break. It's open to close for me w/breaks in the parks or resort hopping.

DH is the only early riser and I am not one to wake up!! We stay in villas. DH usually makes coffee if no one is sleeping on the pullout in the living room and then sits on our balcony and drinks his coffee (esp at AKV) Sometimes he will walk down and fill his mug with coffee and walk around the resort for a couple hours. DS will be up by 8 and lay in his bed playing his iPad quietly. DD and I usually share the master bedroom so as not to be disturbed. We are usually up and moving by 10 and to the parks by 12. The kids and I close the parks down every night. DH usually heads back after the nighttime show.

This may seem like a waste to some people, but I can truly say I've never had a stressed out over tired kid or adult in our group. It's a good compromise for DH (day shift worker) and I (night shifter). It works for us. My DH gets a lot of relaxation out of his mornings at the resorts and we all get to do what we want at the parks. At the end of our vacation we don't need another vacation like some people.

I usually travel with just DS. He is a morning person at home but not at Disney. I am not a morning person at all. That said I'd still like to get to the parks at a decent hour. I will usually set the alarm to get up by eight. I will get up, brush my teeth, throw on some clothes and then leave to get coffee. When I leave I make a point of NOT quietly shutting the hotel room door. DS is usually awake with the TV on by the time I get back. Then it takes another hour to get him moving and ready to go, so i use that time to have coffee then shower and get ready. I have learned to not make any reservations for before 10 o'clock.

My friend and My husband have both had to wake my butt up. They have my permission to do such. Usually they get up do showers get dressed than wake my butt up if I'm not already up.

DS is a morning person and is up everyday around 6-6:30 regardless of what time he goes to bed. DH, DD and I are not morning people, so I do set the alarm on park days. I usually get up with DS, get him breakfast in the room, take a shower and then wake up Beauty (DH, he wakes up fast and is so cheerful!) and the Beast (most definitely DD). On non-park days we sleep until we wake up. DS is always up first, so he puts on his headphones and plays on his iPad while he waits for us. We cannot do up early, late to bed everyday. We've tried and it just doesn't work for us.

If you're going to be up , instead of making nose, make me coffee ~! I cant stand passive/aggressive moves like that....just wake everyone up without all the dramatics

OUr kids are always in a separate room - either 1 bedroom villa or connecting. I'm always careful to not wake anyone up .

This is me. :thumbsup2
First of all it's their vacation also and yes when you have to get up at 5 am every day in real life, I don't think it's unusual to want to sleep in.

Next, I'm not into the forcing people to do the MK death march simply to get on a ride. been there, done that. all that happens is by noon, I ended up with tired cranky kids. oh joy.

I find it really interesting that people would intentionally be so rude to so called family. So some one is sleeping and you intentionally begin to ramp up the volume to get your way? :rotfl: Dh ever did that to me, he wouldn't have to worry about riding the rides, I'd chew his you know what off so he couldn't sit down on a ride.

So not cool to callously treat me that way.

We've never been rope drop people and we generally don't measure our vacations by how many rides we do. we do have the advantage of having a dvc so we know we will be back relatively soon. If we miss TSM it really doesn't ruin or vacation

I wake them up. And wake them up and do it a 3rd time and maybe they will get out of bed before I leave them.

I've got teens and a husband who doesn't like to get up before noon on vacation.

Me too. I like to take a little quiet morning time for myself, have some coffee on the balcony then get myself ready. After that I start waking them up, letting dh sleep the latest.

I'm up first, if we dont have a breakfast ADR i make my coffee and hot water for my oats. I sit down and quietly read email, Facebook or work on youtube videos while drinking my coffee and eating my oats. Then i prepare the water for more oats for me and ds5 and then setup cereal bowls for the older boys and myself. I will eat my cereal and more oats while they eat and watch tv. Wifey generally doesn't eat so she gets up and starts getting clothes ready at this point. Then we get ready and hit rope drop.

If it's an ADR morning i just do coffee and computer for 45 minutes prior to waking up everyone.

Luckily, we're all morning people. I had a friend traveling with us this trip and *warned her* to get a separate room if she wanted to sleep in. She opted not to. At home we're up by 6, so waking at 6:30 at Disney is sleeping in :rotfl: The kids race to see who can get to the phone first.

I also confess our morning wake ups consist of singing songs, throwing stuffed animals across the room, and other general silliness. I am sure we are not the crew to be around if you are a night owl. :simba::donald::stitch::sulley::tigger::dumbo:

I am sure the people in the rooms around you appreciate your "silliness".

I only wake my kids if we have a reservation for breakfast! Otherwise I let them sleep - they're young and going hard all day at pools and parks in the heat, and they can usually go fairly late into the night some nights, so in order to avoid miserable kids - I let them sleep!

Yeah, I'm the "getter upper" in the group. I set an alarm, wake up, get myself ready and then get DH and DGD up and going. We'd be lunch getting to the parks if I let DH sleep till he woke up. He's natural clock wakes him at 11:00 or so. DGD has been similar in past trips as she wasn't in school or anything. Now she seems to be on an earlier cycle after a year of school under her belt

Back when we traveled a long distance and spent a week, etc at Disney, we would set the alarm/wake up call at least 1/2 the week for rope drop and then have a couple days when everyone could sleep in a bit and we would go later to the parks. Now that we live in Florida and mostly go up for long weekends, we are WAY less inclined to have an alarm. For example, this past long weekend, we went up for the 24 hour day on Friday, but got there @ noon, went back to the hotel for a rest about 6, went back to MK @ 10ish. Then in the mornings we mostly just woke when we woke, which was generally between 7 and 8 for me, and more like 10ish for the rest of the family. We stay in a 2 bedroom villa, so it is such a pleasant thing for me to be able to get a cup of tea and take it along with my Nook out to the balcony for a couple hours. We also go for 4 or 5 hours, and then go back for a break most days, especially in the heat.

Most days we do not sleep in on a Disney Vacation. I get up when the alarm goes off and tell everyone to get up and get moving:good vibes
Showers are taken at night so we just have to get up, get dressed and grab a quick bite.
My people would love to sleep in everyday, but we are paying big bucks for the vacation and I would rather get up and have access to shorter lines in the early am. We come back midday and they can take a nap if they want, or swim and lay by the pool.

I promise while it sounds quite loud, it's really not. With two active little boys I'm probably overly cautious about the noise they can make. Plus I understand how annoyed *I* get at the people coming back at midnight making a ruckus in the corridors. You can be silly and goofy without shouting at the top of your lungs :) It's only painful if you're in the room with us, promise.

This is me too! I love to sleep late on the weekend (or whenever I can!), but at Disney I set my alarm, get ready, then get everyone else up for breakfast. I have 2 sleepy teens that are willing to get up early at Disney to take advantage of those golden rope drop hours as long as they can take a mid afternoon nap. We also plan one or two down days so they can sleep in. This compromise works best for my family.

I love sleep. I could probably sleep all day if I wanted to. However, at Disney I am the kind of person who sets an alarm and is up and at 'em ready to start my day. Everyone I travel with is just the same. I like to have breakfast at the resort food court and be on the buses fairly early. I've never done rope drop but we wander it not too long after it. Every minute counts in Disney!

My dh laughs and says-the only time I'm up and about and fully alert in the mornings is at disney-
I could easily wear the "I'm sooo not a morning person" Minnie mouse nightgown the rest of the year.:hyper:

My non-verbal, autistic daughter has perfected the technique of waking her sister and sister's friends while we are at Disney. She runs into the room, turns the TV on, jacks up the volume, and runs out of the room squealing loudly. :rolleyes1

Good morning sunshine. Works every time.
