do you wake up family members in your villa/room etc. when youre away?

We were just there a week or so ago. Olaf has taken on wake up call duty.

That makes me so happy! I miss Mickey waking us up, and am kind of sick of Stitch!

I am an early riser, so I get up, make coffee and try to be quiet until the wake up call. We usually schedule 2 or 3 wake up calls, just so everyone gets a chance to listen while they are getting ready!

My thoughts are we have travelled so far, paid so much-were going to enjoy as much as we can. Lie ins are permitted before we leave for vacation, and when we return. Disney is my get up and go time.:cool1:
. I agree but when you work Friday for 8 hrs leave Saturday for Disney then return home in a week on Sunday then return to work Monday. No time for extra sleep. We could shorten our vacation to leave Sunday or Monday then return Friday home or Saturday. But that's no fun. I would rather spend more time away and take some relaxing sleep in mornings. Like I said DH will sleep in unless I have scheduled ADR for breakfast. Pre park opening breakfast is what my kids love so in a week we do 3-4. Lol.

Absolutely! "let's go gang! Rope drop at 9! We need to arrive by 8, so on the bus by 7:30! We're out this door by 7:15!"

Then I count down in 10 min intervals.

I run a sales org for work so it's all about targets, attainment, measuring and progress reports. Meet the plan! :mic:

I am indeed British.
Glad I've tickled you, with my English quirky words.:)

I can't wait to listen to Stitch shout at everyone-we shall definitely be using that.:hyper:

No SLEEPING, it's Time 2. }}} WAKE UP {{{

Isn't that what Stitch says...? LoL

I should add that we own a farm, so we are up and feeding the horses at 6:30am EVERY MORNING. 7 days a week...in fact we don't ever get a "weekend" or a "day off" unless we are physically away, like when we go on vacation to WDW. So our body clocks are constantly set to get up at that time. Now that we own DVC, we will still get up in time to see the crack of dawn and rope drop, but we may take an occasional midday nap, or at least slow down our touring pace.

OUr kids are always in a separate room - either 1 bedroom villa or connecting. I'm always careful to not wake anyone up .

We get up earlier at Disney than we do at home, even though we go at a slow time. We try to do morning EMH when possible, so we try to be at the bus by 7:15 (I don't care if we're not the first through the turnstiles, just so long as we're there at rope drop). I shower the night before, then when the alarm goes off at 6:30 or so, my husband jumps in the shower, I get dressed, then I wake the kids up at about 6:50. They're young so they just throw on clothes. The stroller and bags get packed the night before, too.

We usually bring granola bars to eat while waiting for rope drop, if at all.. we don't eat breakfast at home until about 9am, so nobody's very hungry first thing in the morning.

I'd rather sleep in at home, or if that's not possible, go to bed early a few nights. We also don't stay out very late at Disney.. we do Wishes and Illuminations once each, when we're planning a rest day the following day (we go for 14 days, and only spend 10 days in the parks).

DH used to do that years back and it always resulted in tears. I've finally convinced him to quit opening those drapes!

We determine a wake up time the night before, adding some extra time for the kids to wake up slowly. I'm always up 1-2 hours before evryone else and I creep around quietly. We usually stay at Pop so I create a nest for myself behind the curtains in the floor of the closet and I'll go there to read a book/plan while everyone sleeps. I've also gone down to the pool area to hang out in the mornings.

Then DH gets up and when we hit the predetermined time, we wake the kids up slowly. Talking a little louder, moving around more, then the TV. TV usually finishes waking them up.

Because DH likes some relaxed mornings, I purposely plan some "late mornings" where we can get up whenever and move whenever. No rush to get there for rope drop. We always make it to the park within 15 mins of rope drop anyway....but they like that there is no time pressure.

Looks like I'm in the minority here but we all sleep in and gradually wake up. No alarms or rope drops for us. After all this is vacation and there is no way I'm waking up at any time that remotely looks like a typical work day.

Exactly. We wake up when we wake up. We are night owls at Disney, not rope droppers.

I wake up at 4:30 AM every day, no matter where I am, with no alarm clock. My mom does the same thing and my son (9) is usually awake at 5:30. It's in our DNA. My daughter (2) has not yet decided if she is a morning person. She is generally up by 6:30 though.

My husband does not wake up early.

I am not subtle, I just loudly tell people it's time to get up if they happen to still be asleep.

My husband and kids would sleep until noon at Disney World if I let them, and they're ALL cranky when they're woken up in the morning. I've learned not to plan any early mornings, unless there's a specific and very good reason.

I usually get up by 7am and get myself ready. I'll open the curtains a little bit, and I don't go out of my way to be super quiet. Once I'm ready, I wake up DH and instruct him to get ready while I go get coffee. I take my time and wander through the resort, enjoying the peace of not wrangling my whirlwinds of children, and maybe stopping into the gift shop to browse, without having to say "Don't touch that", "Put that back", and "No, we're not buying that" every 1.5 seconds.

Once I get back to the room, I turn on the TV and all of the lights, and start announcing that it's time to get up and get ready. If I'm lucky, DH will have actually gotten out of bed by then. He's best given a wide berth first thing in the morning, so I let him do his own thing as he gets ready, while I get the kids up.

I first start by trying to wake up my 7 year old son. That generally ends with me physically sliding him off the bed and onto his feet. At that point, he's usually awake enough to start getting dressed.

If my 3 year old daughter hasn't woken up yet, I'll actually get her dressed right there in bed, while she's still asleep. By the time I'm done, she's reasonably awake.

Once everyone is dressed, and has their hair and teeth brushed, we head out. We're lucky if we get anywhere by 9:30am. 10am is more likely. I'd like to get an earlier start, but it makes for a miserable morning, so it's just not worth it. We do tend to stay out later in the evening though.

It takes me longer to get ready in the mornings, so I get up first, shower and get ready. Then, I wake everyone else, and get the kids dressed while DH showers. We eat breakfast in the room or on the go, then hit rope drop. No sleeping at Disney!:rotfl2: Although, I should add that we usually don't stay up late and will have a short rest time in the afternoons.

DH is the one to drag his feet. I might just give him the option of meeting up with us at the parks. I would take the little ones with me and I bet the older ones, too.

If my husband isn't with us then I'll be the one to get things moving in the morning. Of course if we have breakfast plans then I will set an alarm ... But we all are equally totally pooped, but the excitement gets us moving in the morning. No matter where we go on vacation with my husband he's always the first up showered and ready to go.
A Bus driver told us in the 1980's why they named Epcot the word Epcot ... Every Person Comes Out Tired
I never forgot that both funny and true : )

Ugghhh, this thread makes me cringe. I am most certainly not a morning person.

I wonder how some of the posters would feel about the late sleepers in their family making a racket at 1am? I am a night owl, but I try to be as quiet as possible such as reading with a flashlight. Heaven help the person that passive/aggressive stomps around to get me up at the crack of dawn. MBs in the blender time!

I am NOT a morning person. My 4 year old daughter likes to sleep until 9 even 10 some days. But this is Disney, we have princesses to meet so we get up earlier than we ever do at home (including for school). There were no complaints, everyone was excited to get going (sometimes a little cranky :lmao:). We were up for 6:15 most days for early ADR's, BBB, or RD. I just turned on the TV and opened the curtains and my husband and I would get ready first. We did take naps mid-day so we could make it all the way to the fireworks or other night time activities.

Luckily, we're all morning people. I had a friend traveling with us this trip and *warned her* to get a separate room if she wanted to sleep in. She opted not to. At home we're up by 6, so waking at 6:30 at Disney is sleeping in :rotfl: The kids race to see who can get to the phone first.

I also confess our morning wake ups consist of singing songs, throwing stuffed animals across the room, and other general silliness. I am sure we are not the crew to be around if you are a night owl. :simba::donald::stitch::sulley::tigger::dumbo:
