I am shocked by the amount of people that unpack. I’ve never done it ever in any of my traveling. All clothes stay in my neatly packed suitcase. Dirty laundry gets put in a compression bag we have specifically for that reason. If I have the chance to do laundry during the trip I will, but I wouldn’t miss out on anything else to do it.

I don't understand packing cubes. Mini suitcases that you have to pack inside your suitcase.

Or as DH calls them "Tupperware for your clothes".

Me neither. But you would be surprised the number of people who don't know how to pack a suitcase. My husband for example can't pack a suitcase to save his life. Drives me insane. We take separate luggage for all our trips.

We wash our clothes before we leave and then repack everything :scared: Sounds tedious, but when we get home all we have to do is put everything away! Makes life a lot easier.

I consider everything that goes/comes back with us from vacation to be contaminated. When we get home all clothes go straight from the car to the washing machine. I don't want my vacation clothes getting fresh with my home clothes. AND the last thing I want to do on vacation is wash clothes!

We use packing cubes to organize and I feel like it’s a boundary between our clothes and the drawers. We are unpackers unless it’s an overnight trip. I wash everything, clean or dirty, washed or unwashed, as soon as I get home.

I also put dirty laundry into a garbage bag (that I tie back up after any items are deposited). Then going home dirty garbage bag of laundry gets piled into one of the few suitcases, and its washed and dried. Any clean clothes that we did not wear usually get washed and dried also, or just thrown in the dryer for 15 mins.

We don't unpack. Cause when you have to pack everything back up again it's depressing that you are leaving and going home. We usually hang some stuff up in the closest but that about it. I mean we unpack our bathroom supplies, but that doesn't really count.

We bring sanitizing wipes, and clean out the drawers, and then dry them quickly with a clean hand towel from the bathroom.

We then line them with tissue paper (saved and recycled from shopping/gifting) or wrapping paper (either recycled from big gifts at the holidays, or bought on clearance after the holidays for this express purpose) or if I forget to pack drawer liner of some form, then we just ask housekeeping for additional clean towels to line the drawers.

All of this takes (easily) less than 10 minutes. Then we unpack into the freshly cleaned/lined drawers; we have done the "ziplock bag" packing method with one complete outfit per bag/per day for *years*, so that's really quick. (we recycle those bags, BTW - I have some that I'm packing now for our next trip that are easily 5 years old LOL)

We keep a kitchen garbage bag (with drawstring) in the closet for dirty clothes; we line a "pop up" hamper we use just for travel with it. It's re-used as the dirty clothes bag for the trip home (it's already dirty!) and then the hamper stays clean to bring our clean, folded clothes back to the room in. We do laundry once during the trip so we only have to bring half as many clothes (SHOCKING NEWS: people *might* see us wear the same clothes twice at Disney World! Alert the media!) and when we get home, it all gets laundered again because it's all dirty, and because we brought just enough clothes... for the second half of the trip after we do laundry...! Laundry doesn't take long - we typically break it up into several smaller loads, including the dryers, and the whole process is 2 hours or less out of our trip, but worth it for us because we can pack less. Plus, we typically have at least one Resort day built in to every trip, anyway, so it's no big deal; we just make sure to plan that for the halfway point.

Been going to Disney World since 1972. Never have seen a bedbug at any Disney Resort hotel, never have had any kind of bug or critter problem at any Disney Resort hotel (unless you count our "frog friends" at WL who stick to the glass windows in the autumn or all of the little skinks at POFQ that love to dance around your feet LOL)

I hang almost everything. Lingerie etc stays in suitcase. Use that same suitcase for storage of laps etc which is then re-locked ( when stuff doesn’t fit in safe)

I cannot even start vacation until our suitcases are unpacked and everything is put away. My husband usually explores the resort while I unpack.

They don’t thoroughly clean the drawers between guests so the thought of putting my clean clothes in where someone might have put dirties grosses me out too much to use the drawers.
Me too! We follow the same practice at WDW and all other resorts we travel to.::yes::

Yes, why bother. We also unpack all toiletries. Always bring extra large plastic kitchen bags which tie up for dirty clothes, especially if we are hanging by the pool on check out day. Put all wet swimsuits in a tie up large plastic kitchen bag to put in a carry on if we are at WDW and we have already checked our luggage in the morning to be sent on the airline. So easy, hop on DME with a carryons and avoid having to stand in line at MCO with checked luggage. LOVE the system!:thumbsup2

Speaking of luggage, I never travel with expensive jewelry(bring all costume jewelry) or perfume, with the exception of our sons weekend destination wedding:lovestruc. Just too much of a hassle for me to lock it up in a safe.
I would be heartbroken if a piece of jewelry "happened to be missing".:scared1: It can happen easily at resorts, then dealing with that issue is not one I want to spend any time on with precious vaca.:wave2:

We use the drawers, however I put all of our unders, socks, bathing attire in plastic zip top bags. Nothing that touches us touches the drawers. I am not worried about mine or my DH jeans or tees, he is a farmer, and what he gets into at home is far worse than any germ that may find its way to the outside of clothing that will sit on chairs, rides, etc that millions of others have already parked their carcasses on.

The zip top bags make it easy to pack and unpack. I never wash clothes to come home, they are all washed again, so why waste time on vacation.

The only time I would bring clothes hom to be put away was when we vacation in Aruba. They resort has a service that is inexpensiv, and all clothes are returned in dry cleaning type plastic.

I see a lot of people doing that. I do laundry mid way because we do not like to over pack. But I feel better washing everything when I get home in my machine with my detergent. After being in the suitcase most of the day coming home, the clothes do not seem to be "freshly washed", even after washing them the night before at the resort. Maybe it is the Florida water, IDK.

I much prefer unpacking. I never used to, but during my first solo trip my room was ready super early and I wasn't quite yet ready to head to the parks yet, so I unpacked. Ever since then I always do. DH never does and has no desire to. It drives me crazy because I would much rather he unpack and we hide his suitcase, but I guess it leave more room for my stuff lol.

We always unpack and put the suitcases out of the way. I can't stand having to have dodge suitcases. And it is a PITA to keep pulling out the suitcase to get stuff out of it. I usually stay for 2 weeks and have to do laundry anyway. It is just so much easier to put things in the drawer then having to deal with the suitcase and having it always "out".

I hear you. But it saves a step when we get home, so it’s definitely worth it to us. And even with washing clothes, I tend to completely over pack! You never know when you’ll need that one shirt you haven’t worn in weeks

I hear what you are saying. For me, I would be able to smell that they are different, and it feels like they are not clean. I am not an overboard crazy germ person, but we are clean people in the fact that we wash our hands regularly and never eat anything before we wash our hands. We also do not walk in a house with shoes on. I think they should have an area by the front doors where people take off their shoes and store them so they are not walking through the room with shoes on. But that is another thread. LOL
