Doug Clark, who with his band the Hot Nuts created risque rock 'n' roll for 47 years, passed away in a Chapel Hill, North Carolina hospital Monday (September 16), after an extended illness. He was 66. "Their songs included subjects that in those days were taboo," said Cal Horton, town manager of Chapel Hill. "They sang about sex. Of course now, all of it looks very mild, in retrospect." Clark's best-known song (though the group never made the Billboard Hot 100) was "Baby Let Me Bang Your Box."
His admirers describe him as an ambassador for Chapel Hill, as a humble musician who represented his hometown well.
