Do you think pot should be legalized?

How's that? You're sitting here telling me how it really affects how you drive and such, even though it's a proven fact there's a lower automobile accident rate for marijuana users than those who don't.

And I'm reading yours and having trouble responding, which I'll explain to you in a PM later.

And I didn't say it's fine to do while driving. I said I know people who have been fine while under the wheel while high.

you know all drunk drivers think they're great drivers too.

Just because there's a lower statistic, doesn't mean it's still alright.
I think people, no matter what they do, forget cars can kill someone.

Once again, taking my words our of context.

I've not once said I approve of it being used while driving. All I did was prove that the statistics show in favor of marijuana users and use personal experience as evidence that I've seen people doing fine behind a wheel while under the influence.

shelby you're smart, how does marijuana become an anti-emetic? i don't know much about it, but i do know my onco almost put me on it to help with the nausea.

if you're using it for nausea, would it still have the same negative effects as using it for pleasure would?

Wow, what a response. I mean I totally said, "My friends say they drive fine while they're high."

I know from personal experience with them. If I didn't and was just going by what they said, I wouldn't have posted it in this thread.

Why are your posts so strong if you don't even agree with what you're saying?

What I meant to say was, I've never endorsed smoking it while driving or directly said I approved of it. All I said was I know people who have been natural and fine while high and driving.

i'm not completely positive to be honest, having never studied that aspect of it.

but from what i do know about marijuana, i know that it slows your metabolism. making you process food slower and it encourages your apetite. (this is the "munchies" you hear about.) that would probably be how it slates the nausea.

the perscription pills that your onco would have written you an rx for would have the same delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol(thc) that is the active ingredient in marijuana that you smoke. so i would say yes, the same effects would occur.

but then you must take into account the context that its being used in. the average cancer patient isn't up to much partying, as i'm sure you can attest to. they also wouldn't be operating machinery or driving. if anything, they'll merely form an addiction to it through the hippocampus, since they wouldn't be near anything that could cause a potentially dangerous situation.

ahhh now it all makes sense! yeah, i wasn't up to much partying. i was lucky if some days i could roll out of bed. ;)

sorry to go ot, but have you thought of a medical career? you sound REALLY good at this stuff!

nah. i don't wanna do medicine.
the only reason i know this stuff is from psychology. if you didn't notice, i can only talk about the psychological aspect of it. ;)

but another reason i just thought of. marijuana hits the cerebellum, and dulls your senses and stuff like that. so youre still nauseated, you just don't feel it. does that make sense?

yeah, it makes sense. it's like a pain killer - you still have whatever is causing the pain, but the med takes it away for a while. was that a good analogy?

so is the cerebellum what controls your nerves? if you couldn't tell, a&p isn't required here and is only an elective. you need bio as a prereq and they gave me bio dead last.

yes, thats a good analogy.

cerebellum is what controls your equilibrium. (dizzy=nausea)

NO!

I don't want to live in a society where everyone smells like pot, acts like zombies all day long, and there is no one left to have an intelligent conversation with.
In my opinion alchohol should be illegal too, because it causes far more deaths in our society of inoccent people then domestic and gang violence does.
Anything that impairs your brain should not be legal, I also think smoking should be illegal because it causes damage to your lungs and exposes those around you to second hand smoke.

Whilst the governments still make money off tobacco and alcohol I don't think they're going to become illegal anytime soon.
My main problem with pot would be people smoking it in public places. I don't want to be exposed to the fumes.

Pot doesn't make you stupid.

Well, I'm on the fence about it. One thing is that the plant they use to make pot is used for rope, fabrics and other stuff, and we IMPORT IT! We would have a better economy if we produce the plant here and make our own stuff. On the other hand smoking pot is a bad thing. It's illegal and kills people.

My dad smoked it and he said that it was the worst decision he made, his life went down the toilet. He stopped way before I was born. The plant should be legal...but smoking pot shouldn't. I agree with disneyworldluvr349, but the plant could be used for so much more good than bad!

I have no idea!
