Insipired by Huit's thread. Plus I saw a thread like this a couple weeks ago on the CB.

Your thoughts?

I think it should be illegal.

More of a medical view that anything though

Yes.
I don't understand WHY alcohol and tobacco are legalized but Mary Jane isn't. As long as marijuana is taxed and treated the same as alcohol and tobacco (like DUIs and stuff) I have no problem with it.

I actually think it should be legalized. How is it any worse than cigs? If a person chooses to over-abuse their rights, then that's a personal choice.

It pretty much is here...But not technically i guess...

I think it should be. Not that I'd ever use it if it was but still I know many people who have used it and are still great people

Honestly?

It's not really any more dangerous than the legal dangers of drinking alcohol (where people are killed every day thanks to drunk drivers) and smoking cigarettes (which pose the dangers of second hand smoke-and the possibility of getting lung cancer).

So really? Unless they make drinking alcohol and smoking normal cigarettes illegal, there's really no point in it being against the law to smoke Pot.

(Read: I think all three should be illegal or at least have extremely strict restrictions. Especially with smoking-since even the smell it leaves behind bothers me to no end.)

I have no view on this issues, I'm neither for it, or against it.

If cigarettes are legal than marijuana should be...but if they make cigs illegal then it should be illegal too.

Marijuana's never been the direct cause of a death. It would actually take 1,500 pounds of it digested in fifteen minutes for a legal overdose. Basically, it's not causing any harm. All it is is a relaxer and it doesn't make you do stupid things, contrary to popular belief. I think it should be legalized, but to an extent. Maybe have an age limit or something on it, and anything that can really mess you up should either be illegal or used for medicinal purposes only.

Nice link talking about the comparison of marijuana to that of alcohol, tobacco, ect.

BTW, Ron Paul in 2012!

I'm not sure. I don't want another type of fume getting into my lungs from someone else. Really, if people just smoked cigarettes and pot (if it was legal) in their own homes, I wouldn't care so much. I hate the fact that people can smoke it on the street and it blows right into you. Walking behind people on campus is so annoying. They smoke where they aren't supposed to and it's just awful.

So yea, I guess if it had the same restrictions on it that alcohol has (can't drive, etc) then it wouldn't be so bad. My main issue is having to breathe the stuff in.

What medical view?

It is sometimes used to help people with chemo and other things.

Yep. No one has actually died directly from marijuana.

I'm not sure..
People are going to use it whether it is legal or not.
I dont use it, so I dont really care either way.

Like Laura said though, my only problem with it being legalized is if people could do it on the streets or whatever and have it blown in my face.

Yep. I was almost put on marijuana, if it weren't for one other drug. Marijuana helps combat the nausea, and my nausea had gotten so bad I lost 10 pounds in a week. I am deathly allergic to one of the anti-emetics, another wore off after taking it so much.

People who want to do pot, do pot.
Regardless of laws against it, because right now it's just a minor offense.

So, even if you ignore the fact that it's not that bad for you and it's hyped up to be much worse than it is, it makes sense to legalize it.
It would be taxed, giving more money to the government, who can spend that money to help America right now, instead of dealers.
