I just wanted to know because I have read there are only so many AAA rooms available. We are going this October 2012. I also wanted know if I already have a package booked can I still add the AAA discount ? One more question, if I got a AAA discount and a better discount comes out for the GP can I change it ? Thanks

I called AAA to see what was available for October (before we switched our dates). I was quoted rates for Beach Club, Animal Kingdom, and Coronado Springs. It wasn't enough of a discount for my liking so that is why I switched our dates. I was just quoted these rates last week.

It doesn't hurt to just call and get a quote. You can call AAA directly and they will give you a quote. Or, you can call Disney and get a quote on a room only.

Just so you know, as an example, I asked for rates October 15-18. I was told it would be $340/night for standard at BC, $306/night for pool view at AKL, and $147.90/night for standard at CSR. I am pretty sure those do not include taxes.

I'm new to the world of AAA Travel Booking (just did my first one this past Friday for a trip in February), but here's what I know:

1. Caall your local AAA agent and say you'll like to know what discount, if any, can you get if they take over your reservation. If the discount she gives you (if any) is acceptable, you'll have to give her authorization to have them take over your reservation.

2. If Disney comes out with FD or other discounts, you'll have to call your AAA and ask that they contact WDW to get that discount.

HTH!!

Ok thanks you two. I may just call and see what they have. That doesnt seem like much of a discount TaraBara.

I called Disney and asked about AAA package discount for the Polynesian and of course they said I would have to talk to a AAA agent for that. But she did check on how much it would cost for room only and I figured it out to be 295.81 a night for standard room, which seems like a good deal to me ! I didnt go ahead and book it but decided to check on a package with AAA first.

I actually just booked with a AAA discount through Disney last Thursday for the Poly for October during the blackout. We got 10% on Club Level.

You can do it through Disney but there is a trick. You can only apply AAA when reserving with a cast member to a Room Only reservation. They will not apply AAA to packages. For us it works because we did not want a dining plan. So you can make a Room Only, but you have to make sure you ask for Room Only and say No when they ask you if you want to reserve a package. The reason as it was explained to me is that packages have to be made through AAA to get the AAA discount. So we made a room only for 6 days and then added 7 day tickets with park hopper and Disney Magical Express. So it ended up being exactly like a package with no dining.

But here is where it gets different. With a Package, you have to put money down and then the balance is due 45 days before arrival. This includes room and tickets. With a Room Only you have to pay the first night in full, all tickets (if you purchase them at the time of reservation) in full, and the balance is then due upon check in.

After I got to thinking about it the price Dsiney quoted me for the Poly had to be wrong or I wrote it down wrong. Because that is more than 10 %.
I called and asked AAA how much it would be for a package and the price was about 25.00 more than what Disney quoted me ?
If I book a room only with a AAA discount can I call Disney and have them add the dining plan and tickets to it ? Or do I have to have AAA TA do that ? I was hoping I could get the room discount then call later on and have them add the dining and tickets.

The way I understand it, you will not be able to add a dining plan to a room only reservation made through Disney, which you have asked them to apply a AAA discount. This makes it a "package" and that has to be made through AAA to get a discount on the package. Part of an arrangement with AAA. You can have a dining plan, etc., added through your AAA agent if you go that route for a full package. You can make all the dining reservations you would like by going to the Disney website even without a dining plan.
