Do you think Disney Channel will return to it's original family oriented image it started with?

When it was first launched in 1983 The Disney Channel was meant to have a family-friendly image and had something for everybody. But once The Disney Channel changed it's format and started focusing on kids with an all kids show format I think Disney Channel was trying to have serious competition with Nickelodeon and I think that's what ruined Disney Channel. But back before the format change Disney Channel was the family oriented channel where you could watch reruns of Disney classic shows such as Zorro and Spin And Marty and you could see the classic Disney movies like Sleeping Beauty Snow White Pete's Dragon Tron and other Disney movies and their kids cartoons were excellent too. They also added reruns of sitcoms like Brotherly Love and The Torkelsons/Almost Home and Growing Pains as well as concerts from Paula Abdul and Billy Joel. But I think what Disney Channel should've done was create a second spin-off family oriented channel that would've been aimed at teens and have an hour for adults with Touchstone Pictures movies shown late at night and have sitcoms too. But I think why Disney Channel switched to an all kids format was because Disney thought it would grant them more money and a bigger audience of kids which is why they have Disney Junior aimed at children in the 4-7 age range. And they thought with Disney Junior Disney Channel would become more successful. But if Disney Channel would return to it's original family format it started with rather than a kids show format it would save Disney Channel a lot of money

In my eyes I think the reason why Disney Channel did away with the family format in the 2000's was so they could focus on their kids/teens audience. But I think the main reason why they switched to the kids/teens format was so they could compete with Nickelodeon as I mentioned in my opening post. But what I think was the big deal that Disney Channel had was they would take teen stars and make them like teen idols. Take for instance when High School Musical debuted it turned Zac Efron into a teen idol and the same thing with Corbin Bleu and Lucas Gabreel. And when That's So Raven came out Orlando Brown was also a teen idol and Disney Channel knew that girls would watch the shows just to see a teen idol. Back in the 90's I loved it when Disney Channel had My Little Pony Tales and I don't know how Sunbow got to produce that show rather than Disney and they could've made My Little Pony Tales a joint venture produced by Sunbow and Disney. Also how they got reruns of the Care Bears cartoon is beyond me in the 90's. But the biggest mistake that Disney Channel did was make Playhouse Disney a block for preschoolers and toddlers rather than making a channel called Playhouse Disney. I think that Disney Channel wanted to compete with Nick Jr. and they thought that Playhouse Disney would be a logical answer to compete with Nick Jr. And every single Playhouse Disney was meant to sell merchandise and introduce new children's singers and groups like Choo Choo Soul Dan Zanes Johnny And The Sprites and The Doodlebops by promoting music videos. But Disney Channel as I mentioned before should bring back the family image with variety in their lineup with movies game shows and sitcoms and that would work miracles and fit like a glove

I am not following you. Why should they bring back the old stuff? What miracles will it work?

I don’t think the block for Playhouse versus a channel was a mistake. Disney knows their market and the time to show content. The preschool in the morning to mid-day. Tweens after school. More family related sitcoms in the evening. Many shows generated merchandise and theme park shows / parades.

No need for another channel.
