Heck, I told you folks about 15 pages ago BCB was PD in disguise. I didn't need proof of the photo bucket account to confirm that. Anyone who has been here for a few years, familiar his posts and his posting method could spot him under any screen name. Put it this way people, if this was a CSI episode, Gil Grissom would have figured out who Papa Deuce was in the first two minutes of show. You wouldn't have even made it past the opening song.

I go over all the housekeeping information (date changes, exam dates, study guides, due dates, etc.) at the beginning of class. So if she were to come into my class 10 minutes late, she would miss all of that information and I would not go over again in the class.

Being late for my class once or twice in a semester is not a huge deal. Being late consistently for a few weeks in a row is a huge deal.
I am also a PhD student and I had one classmate who came in 20 minutes late every class. It drove me nuts because it was so distracting!

Relatively small morning class, and her mother got very ill during the term. She needed to take a week off, and we as a class voted whether to extend the class time, or add a week. The extra time was preferred by more people.

Ah, that's not nearly so bad as I was imagining.

Still, I'd think that IF a student in that class had come privately to the professor afterward and said, "I understand that changing the class is in the best interest of the majority, but I have ____ conflict", the professor would have to allow the student to miss the extended time without penalty.

I'm really surprised at the emphasis so many colleges place on attendance. When I was in college (12,000 student midwest university with good rep), the vast majority of the time attendance was not an issue. My classes were a combination of large lectures and small classes. I can't even imagine someone taking attendance at a 200 person lecture.

University Instructor here - We are now required to take attendance because the government is using it for help in determining grant fraud etc. Students sign up for classes, collect the money and never show up to class...

So glad to hear so many disagreeing with the OP (and his aliases), You would not believe how many "entitled" students I have come across...

I had 2 of those large lecture classes this semester. Both used these to take attendance and for quizzes. It automatically loads the responses/grades on the teacher's end of blackboard, and he/she just publishes it to our bb grades.
