Do you still hit the parks "commando style" ?

I must admit we commando in the mornings taking FULL advantage of Early Entry but what has changed is after that we either go back to the resort to nap/swim or leisurely stroll around the parks. Before DVC we'd commando all day long...

To SteamboatGirlie: My DH and I also had a non-park vacation this past May for our 29th anniversary.......it was great....we stayed at AKV for two nights.....arrived late Sunday afternoon (Mother's Day). That evening we met friends at the Adventurers Club for a few drinks and laughs.....it ended up being a later than planned evening (1:00 a.m.) with DH on the stage (with several other guys) with the Maid (Sugarsnap) learning how to dance......needless to say, we slept in the next morning and then just relaxed around the pool the rest of the day until it was time to get ready for dinner at Kona Cafe and watching Wishes afterward from the Poly beach. On Tuesday we checked out of AKV and headed to VB for a few more days of relaxation. At Vero, we just hung out at the pool, read a bit, played minigolf, drove over to the town of Vero for dinner on Wednesday.....very relaxing vacation.....at first I thought I would miss not doing any parks, but, it was a nice change of pace.

Our first DVC trip was last month and we still did it Commando style, more out of a force of habit than anything else I think. We didn't want to miss any of our favorites! We kept saying, though, that we should slow down and relax. Next trip we're really going to try and smell the roses.:flower1:

It'll be easier as you go. We had the same habit to break, but we had two of the most laid back trips this past June and February..Next June we are going way laid back----Vero Beach!!!

This past Summer, we were able to see all the things we wanted to see, and really enjoy the parks. We had a fantastic time. We are looking forward to enjoying the resorts more and more, and taking our time with Disney from now on with our DVC!

DVC had altered my touring habits but the current ticket prices will change all that. Disney has raised the prices up high enough that I have to think about the value I'm getting for them. I'll probably go back to semi-commando style touring.

At the moment I'm not a DVC owner but when I do buy again (a small contract) I'll probably buy Hilton Head rather than an Orlando unit. It's closer and we enjoy staying there.

I am so glad to hear that so many of you have stopped going commando! We're hoping to get out of that habit, too. I'm looking forward to branching out and spending some time outside the parks.

We used to do commando from early am until midnight or later. Now that we own DVC and have an AP, we have modified our commando style. Now we go to the morning EMH park until 11 a.m. or noon, then we go back to our resort and chill out at the pool, then we go back to a park for evening EMH and stay until late. :wizard: We can get most of the important rides and shows in doing it this way while avoiding the parks when they are the most crowded. :cool2:

I think age, time and money have changed our touring habits. When we were younger, we only had enough time and money to do 3 parks in three days. When they added a fourth park, we added a fourth day. Years have passed and now we are DVC members. Now its 4 parks in 6 days. We still do early mornings , take an afternoon break ,then head back for the evenings. But we add an extra day inbetween to enjoy our villa and the non-park restaurants and attractions. It gives us the energy to keep doing our semi-commando style. There's no denying--Rope drop is fun. Even if I can't run as fast as I used to, I love to watch the young kids and families take off and remember when that was me and my kids. I can't wait until I can watch my kids do it with the grandkids!

My type A personality has a hard time breaking the commando/see everything/tour til you drop/don't dare veer away from the touring plan. I've done it, though, and it's taken a few years to slow down. We, like others, go early and fast to get our rides in (there's certain ones we have to ride every trip), then after a few hours we leave and go back to the hotel. most nights we don't go back to the park. We've found we really enjoy DTD and DQ as well as the water parks and enjoy a laid back vacation.

With the ticket prices being so expensive, we'll be visiting the parks even less.

We used to go commando at the beginning, but now we just savor and enjoy at a slower pace. There are still certain things the kids and us parents want to do, so we do those things first if possible. Then we slow things down and do what comes up in our path if we want.

No commando for us....we like the mid day breaks and the poolside drinks!:mickeyjum Anyway, since DVC we're most likely to say, "meh, we'll do it next time!" It works for us! Have fun!!!:yay:
