Do you stay at the same resort every trip?

I'm having such a hard time trying to stay at a new hotel each trip (yeah, as you can see in my siggy :)). I have my favorites, and it's hard to try new ones when I can't wait to go back and stay at my tried and true faves. We're staying at SSR this trip, and I'm thinking on a daily basis if that's where I want to stay. I keep telling myself that I need to try ALL the DVC properties, but it's harder to do than I thought it would be.

So what do you do? Aside from staying at BCV/BWV for F&W, do you try to stay at different resorts all the time, or do you keep going back to your favorites?

We've been OKW owners since 1997.

The ONLY time we stayed at another resort was Thanlsgiving 2004 (I think) when we stayed at SSR.

We've just been spoiled by the large villas and laid back atmosphere at OKW.

It may not be for everyone, but it works for us!

We stay most of the time at SSR. We have tried BWV (don't like sharing buses with the other resorts) and OKW, but we keep going back to SSR. I think we'll try AKV in Nov 2009.

Only by trying different resorts can you truly appreciate your favorites. Splitting your stay between a new resort and a favorite might make it easier on you.

We specifically stay at BWV each year for a conference ... but have also been enjoying 2 nights after the event to "relax and unwind" at a different DVC property.

generally different. like the lower points so right now OKW, AKV and BWV are my favorites based on stays.

really like VWL and BCV better!

It depends on what size room I need. If I only need a studio, then I want to try a DVC resort that I haven't stayed at yet. If I need a room larger than a studio, I stay at my home resort, OKW, because the rooms are bigger and use less points than the other DVC resorts.

So far I've stayed at OKW, BCV, BWV, and SSR. I still need to try VWL and AKV. One of these days I also want to try VB and HHI.

I used a friends DVC and stayed at OKW 3 times and then was hooked and bought in at OKW. In the beginning of my ownership I stayed at a different resort each time until I had done them all. I haven't stayed at the AKV but I have stayed at the lodge on the savanah. I like them all but I still prefer the lush landscaping and tropical laid back theme of OKW. People complain about the distance from the parks and quite honestly that's why I prefer it. After a day at the theme parks I want to leave it behind. i love taking the boat over to DTD. I just really love it.

With that said, even though I find AKV a little dark and the decor not to my taste,(I know many will disagree but it's just my opinion) I intend to stay there again just for the animals and the lodge. AKV is really stunning at X-Mas time.:)

Good Luck!

This is our method. We really hate moving, but we don't feel like we've been home unless we stay at SSR so we stay longer and stay at least 5 nights at each resort. We try to stay at SSR each trip, because we love it there.

I've stayed at all the DVC resorts. My favorites are BWV and HH. Those are the two I spend most of my time at. For a little variety, I stay a night or two elsewhere and usually add the dining plan to the 'short' stay. Now that they've changed the plan, I may not bother, or I may just try the deluxe plan.

I am not a one-resort kind of girl. I just can't imagine always staying in the same place!! AKV is my hands-down favorite resort, but this June will be my third stay in a row - which is the most consecutive stays I've done anywhere and I'm going to be ready for a change. My eventual plan will be to stay at AKV and VB one trip a year and rotate the other resorts for the second trip.

I don't mind staying at different DVC resorts, depending on what's available-I've stayed at all 6 DVC resorts on property. DH, however, will ONLY stay at OKW. He gets a limited amount of vacation time, and he doesn't want to spend it experimenting with a new resort. It would be different if he was retired and had unlimited vacation time-that way, if he didn't like someplace new, he could always go back. But as long as his vacation time is so finite, he wants to stay where he knows he'll be happy. Then I go solo to try out the other resorts. I'm not employed right now, so I have more time to experiment. So I guess it partially depends on how much vacation time you have.

Different resorts now that we're in DVC:thumbsup2 ....check out my signature.

Since 1992, we've only stayed on points at OKW. We have added cash days, if we arrived early or stayed an extra day, at POP and All Stars. I won't stay at All Stars again (too busy, too many organized groups for our taste) but will still extend stays at POP or off-site.

We like to try different resorts too. VB is my "hands-down favorite". Haven't tried AKV yet and we love animals so I'm not even going to give you a hard time. :goodvibes

We own at BWV, VWL, VB, AKV and BCV. We usually book our stays 11 months out with some fiddling around the weekends. We like all the resorts and the only constant is always BCV for the Flower and Garden show. For our December/Christmastime visits we alternate, one year BWV and the next VWL...this is our BWV year for NYE!!!

Ever since we bought at BWV, we have clearly become very boring people who don't like to try new things! Before we owned DVC, we stayed at a different resort each trip: DxL (now POR), CBR, DVC (now OKW), BWI, Pop, CR, WL. As owners, we alternate between BW view and and standard view at our home resort. Someday, I am sure we will try preferred view as well! -- Suzanne

We appreciate the variety of experiences we get by staying at the different DVC resorts.

We also enjoy staying in the different DVC resorts. Our last trip was to the AKV and we LOVED:love: it! So it may have passed our prior favs (where we own) of BWV and BCV. We will always use home points for our F&W trips, but for our other trips we will skip around.

The only two we have never stayed in are Vero and OKW. We will stay at Vero one day, not sure if OKW will ever work out unless we are booking a last min trip and that is what is avail. We prefer the full service resorts with Valet and room service.

We usually stay at BWV, but on the rare trip my DH can drag me away we do enjoy staying at the other DVC resorts.
