Do You Scrapbook All of Your Photos?

I'm not just talking about Disney, I'm talking all photos. It is my goal to put all of my photos into scrapbooks and have no photo albums. I have found, though, that most layouts that I have seen only have one or two photos on a page. Of 50 pages of layouts I think I found 20 layouts with more than three different pictures. I love the layouts that focus on one, but if I do that, I'll have 50 scrapbooks when I'm done. Do most people use both?

Nope! Initially that was my plan and some of my vacation books are every pictures that turned out.
Now with the love of digital I only print the pictures I want to scrap. I then make photo slide shows with the rest of the pictures.
For almost every event/outting etc...I do 1 - 2 page spread. This way I capture the feeling of it and have fun scrapping. I also have started to use a lot of 5x7 and I am loving that!

I scrap most of my pictures and I generally get 4-5 pictures on a page with cropping, unless there is a special picture.

I pack as many photos in as I can.

I just can't give them up. lol

I have some really crowded pages and some that I"m sure people would call cluttered but all that matters is that I like them!

some of my favorite pages have 5-10 pics on them. In all honesty in my work I tend to not like the ones that only have 1-2 pics on them.

I really think all that matters is that you like the books you create

I am like RadioNate... I try to put as many photos on a page as I can w/o it being "too Much". I generally try to put anywhere from 3-6 pictures on a page (more if I can crop them into small squares or something). If I did all my pages like the ones in CK or on scrapping sites with just one or two photos per page, I would have way too many albums!

I don't generally use all of my photos, just the best ones. However, I don't really throw any away either. I place the unused ones in photo storage boxes. Often if I get a new picture fame (especially collage-type frames), I choose a picture from the box.

Now that I have gone digital, I usually just print what I know I will scrap.

That's good to hear that there are other people out there that pile them on :) I love the new layouts I see, but for one I don't want to spend $10 on one page. And, two, I need to get a lot of pictures on my pages. The layout I have that I get the most compliments are is one that has 17 pictures on two pages. It is from Christmas, and each picture is a square of equal size. Maybe I'll post a picture.

Anyone else want to post creative layouts with a lot of pictures?

Nicole,
I have done layouts like that too! I also use my one inch square maker and make an entire page of small 1 inch squares! I use all my left over pictures! Those are some of my favorite pages!
So I think it is fine to do it how ever you want or to combine styles. I love simple layouts. Plus depending on what I am scrapping will dictate how I scrap it!

I guess it depends on my mood how many pictures I scrap. Most of my pages have at least 4-5 pictures on them (if not more) but I do have a few that just have one picture on them. (and those I scraplifted from 2peas) Now that spinning convinced me that the photoshow program was something I had to have (and she was right) I can make cool photoshows and put in all the pictures that I want instead of picking only 5-10 to scrap. maggie

What I have been doing is using all the good pictures and saving the rest in a box. Then for my first page of the album, I take a bunch of the leftovers and make a collage. I still have some leftovers, but they are the really crappy pictures.

I have been using Becky Higgins' sketch book because she has cool ways to include lots of pictures on 2 pages. It's a very uncluttered look and I get to use a lot of pictures.

DH bought me a digital camera with printer for my birthday so I will be like the others too, I guess, only printing the good ones.

On our recent NY/Canadian cruise, I took over 20 pictures of the Statue of Liberty as we cruised out of NY harbor. My friends teased me unmercifully about having so many pictures and wondered on I was going to scrap it all. Believe it or not, I got all of the pictures on a two page layout and I have to say, the layout looks awesome if I must say so myself. I am amazed it is my work.

I cropped some of the pics about 1 1/2 inches high and about 1" wide. Those pics I took as we approached the Statue were placed side by side on one left page, those pics I took as we sailed away were put on the left side.

I got the layout idea from one of Becky Higgins sketches. I love her sketches for layouts with over 15 pictures.

To answer the question, yes, I scrap all our pictures. Any pictures I might not use, DD grabs for her scrapbook. :flower:

First, no I DON'T use every photo I take. I usually take multiples of something and then select the ones I want to use. The full event is captured but not every photo used.

I have some pages that are a single photo or two. This is generally when I have a larger shot - 8 x 10 or 5 x 7 that I want to highlight. Then again I have pages with dozens of photos on them - for instance I did a couple pages on an alternative energy race team my son was part of and there were lots of photos where you really didn't need all the excess around them. He shoots with APS format so I did long shots top and bottom and then small squares of the key part alternating with black and white squares (like a checkered flag) with photos taking the place of black squares.

As for the photos I don't use, I toss them in a basket until I'm done, because sometimes a shot I didn't select originally I'll use to cut title letters out of or may need another one to make a layout balance more nicely. After that the ones I don't send on to family/friends eventually get pitched.

I do put all photos in the sleeve albums upon development until I scrap them but once the event is pulled to scrap the empty pages come out of the album and rotated for new events.

Is Becky Higgins' sketch book something I can buy in a scrapbooking store?

I bought it in my LSS, but she is coming out with a new one so the old one might be hard to find. HERE is a link to what it looks like. I find it invaluable to scrapping, especially events with a lot of pictures. You might want to wait until the new one comes out, but I'm not sure when that will be. HTH!

What is LSS? I've tried to figure that out and I can't think of a store with those letters. Is it just local scrapbook store? That's my only brainstorm.

It depends on how I crop the pictures. If I cut them, then I usually can fit more on a page. But YES, I use as many pictures I can. With simple embelishments and journaling, I dont think it looks too cluttered (IMO). Since the books are primarily for myself and my family I do what I like.

Yes, LSS is just local scrapbooking store. :flower3:

This is what I am working on.....
Using Scrapbooks for big events only, Like vacations or my wedding. This way the whole book will have the same theme.

The rest of the pictures will go into a sleeved photo album that allows for some journaling on the side. These will be family pics, pics of our new home, and normal everyday pics!
IMO, I want to scrapbook events in which I have a lot of memorabilia that I want to save that won't neccesarily fit in a regular sleeved photo album.

Thanks to digital photography, I do not have to worry about scrapping pictures like I use to. Now I know I can scrap all I want, and If I still need the original print for something, or I want to frame it later, I can just go back and print it off from the disc I saved it on.

I do a little bit of both.

I am currently scrapping my recent WDW vacation and this album is one that I want to be about the PICTURES not my ability to be a creative scrapper. Some of the pages have about seven pics on them and I love what I have created so far.

On the other hand, I will occasionaly do really artsy pages of my toddler cousins or DBF and I with just one or two pictures on them. These layouts display a picture and my creativity.

So I am someone who does it both ways.
