Do you put your gifts under the tree before Christmas?

I would love to put some under the tree before Christmas eve, but out kitten would have the corners of every gift chewed off. She's on our desk now chewing on the corner of the Kleenex box. I spray her, but she's ignoring me. Time to pick her up and drop her on the floor.

Have you tried sticking little pieces of double stick tape on there?? Kittens hate that.

I don't put the gifts under the tree until Christmas Eve. One big reason I don't is that I don't want to tempt a break in. Our tree sits right in front of the window in the front of the house near the front door. If theives looked in the window they'd be able to see the presents all nicely wrapped in one place under the tree. I keep everything locked in a trunk in the garage and I pile a bunch of stuff on top of it.

Santa gifts, no.

All other gifts, yes.

Even though DD is 16 Santa still waits to bring her his gifts on Christmas morning. Since Santa only brings a few things (no reason for him to get all the credit) all other gifts are put out the week or so before.

This year we have a new kitty that has never seen a Christmas tree. Not sure how that going to end up. I am going to try the double stick tape on the corners trick. Thanks!

My parents did that once... until I had to get a blanket out of the car to go see my cousin's auto-race. Dad sent me to the car to get the stadium blanket and lo-and behold, was my future present from "Santa". :headache:

My grandmother used to buy stuff starting around July - she'd put them in trash bins in their basement (it was her version of storage as she could get a massive trash can cheaper than a rubbermaid tub). She had so many down there that I'd never mess with peeking. My brother, however, found out every year... the sneak!

Our kids were too young to get stuff out of the car for us when we did this :lmao:

That might be the trick. Thanks! At least she hasn't tried to climb the tree yet. It's funny when she flies around the house, she looks like a flying squirrel.

We have to wait because of our cat. She eats the paper and any bows we put out. We put our tree up this weekend, and she is already throwing up christmas tree. :headache: She does it every year no matter if we use our fake tree or a real one.

I would rather put out the ones from us, and just save the santa gifts for Christmas eve.

My parents put out most of our gifts before christmas and it drives me nuts. When I'm sitting there doing homework and the gifts are just staring at me I have to know what they are. I won't even lie the past few years I've opened my gifts just enough to tell what they are and then wrapped them back up. :rolleyes1 I live at school now so I won't get a chance to do that until I'm off for break.

As for Christmas eve I go to bed with the gifts under the tree and when I wake up Santa has brought more gifts! And my Santa isn't in quotations because he's real. You guys gotta believe. :goodvibes

Def. Christmas Eve!!!!
Children, adults, whomever they are for.

The whole idea of gifts being set out on display, to be shaken, peeked into, etc... Just seems odd????

It depends on if I've been ambitious enough to wrap anything. I usually have to stay up late Christmas Eve night doing it because I hate wrapping and I put it off. But if I get things wrapped, they'll go under the tree. Obviously "Santa" gifts don't arrive until Christmas Eve night. However, this year we have a fifteen-month-old so the gifts are probably safer if we don't put any out before Christmas morning.

We put a few gifts under the tree a day or two before Christmas eve, but the majority go under while they are sleeping. They're only 3 and 4 so they still believe in Santa. My oldest is a night ninja, and will sneak downstairs and open up gifts if they are left there too long. My husband likes to check out his box and shake it and try to guess. It's hilarious. I love to stump him!

Our gifts go under the tree as soon as they are wrapped. Santa gifts don't come out until Christmas Eve and yes, even tho the girls are 10 & 14 we still do Santa, we will for as long as I can do it. :) I love stockings and Santa gifts. :) But in our house Santa doesn't give anything other then 1 or 2 Santa gifts and a stocking, nothing wrapped is ever from Santa. We have 2 cats, 1 dog and this year we have a kitten.......not sure how the kitten and tree and gifts will work out (I forsee lots of me herding him out of the tree lol) but the cats and the dog leave them all alone. :)

I put every gift from others like grandparents under the tree. However all others go out on the eve. I do wrap them before b/c I hate to wrap them all at once. Not fun. :headache:

Very, very late on Christmas Eve - even when it was just my late DH & I left at home..:goodvibes

Here at my DD's, my Dson-in-law and I take care of it after my DD and DGD have gone to bed..:santa:

?

:rotfl:Proving that it takes all kinds--the whole idea of people sneaking around trying to ruin their own surprise, or even shaking, etc the gifts for the same purpose seems odd. I NEVER wanted to guess what was in my gifts as a kid. I figured one out by mistake once (was moving it out of the way to vacuum and thought I could tell what it was) and I was so disappointed that I knew:rolleyes: My kids are both the same way. They do not "get" people who want to spoil the surprise and shake the gifts and inspect them and the like.

I put a few out here and there as the come along. But the major gifts are kept hidden until Christmas Eve.

That's the way it was for me. The gifts from friends/relatives, the ones mailed in, and such were placed throughout the month. Then Christmas Eve it seemed like everything doubled by morning.

Yes, I wrap the presents and put them under the tree (except the "Santa" gifts- those are unwrapped and placed xmas eve after everyone goes to bed).

Well you are no fun.;)

We alter the gifts on purpose. Little gifts big boxes, HEAVY rock inside another gift, etc.....

One yr when we gave dd a cell phone she had to go through many large to small boxes wrapped so tighly in tape that it must have taken her a half hour plus.:lmao:

Ohhhhh, my husband has always been the absolute MASTER at figuring out gifts!!!

DS will never even be given the chance!!! ;)

And, yes, I still think the whole 'display' and 'look but don't touch' thing is just odd....
