Do you put small locks on checked luggage?

Haven't flown since 9/11---As they are checking luggage more often---do you put the little luggage locks on your checked baggage and luggage straps, or not?

I always used both--it made me feel better and the strap around the bag made it easy to spot.

Can I still use them, or will they make me take them off?

Thanks!

We flew to Savannah, GA in November to stay at Disney's HH resort. We always use luggae straps and locks. To be on the safe side we kept the locks in our pockets and put the straps on the suitcases. We checked in at the curb with the sky caps and they weren't examining bags so we put the locks on right then. On the way home we just put the locks on when we packed and had no problem.

I'm flying out in march and United advised me not to put locks on as they would have to be cut off if my bags needed to be examined after check in and bags could get damaged etc

How about the hard sided suitcases with combination locks? Should you still lock that or not? What happens if you do? Will they somehow cut it off?

Guess I'll have to ask next time I call. I flew a couple weeks ago (to and from Orlando) and locked all the locks, and had no problem. But, that was before the new baggage procedure. Guess I'll have to see what everyone says once more people return. :)

I'm curious about this too since I'll be traveling to Orlando in a couple of weeks....! :)

Anyone just back? We'd appreciate more feedback! :) Thanks!
