seeing as I drive a braille van (see tag), that must mean I'm a more "hands on" person, than visual. I sure hope that pickle ornament is a big one!

as long as we are not in the same van, or at least in the same place in the van, I think we'll be all right!

I have a pickle ornament that I bought at the Christmas shop at Epcot. I collect Christmas ornaments, and I think the CM's told me the "tradition." I can't remember.

I do know that I have a very good friend who is from Germany (Bavaria), and she had never heard of the pickle tradition. :confused3

When we went to Europe a few years ago, I noticed that I didn't see any in the Christmas ornament shops I went in. (I also didn't see them in the shop I went to in Salzburg, Austria.) I didn't have the goobers to ask if they had any or had ever heard of the tradition. I didnt want to be a "Stupid American."

We only actually played the game one year, and it was a complete disaster! :headache: I had bought my MIL a Rosie O'Donnel "Barbie" because she was a big fan. Rosie had said or done something she didn't agree wtih so her fan worship for her ended. I said well, the kids will like the doll. My little niece is just the sweetest kid on this planet (for real), and she heard my MIL griping about Rosie but didn't understand that she was bashing her (that's how sweet the little darlin' is!). Anyway, my sweet little niece found the pickle and was given the doll. She gave the Rosie doll to my MIL! :lmao:

My dad is German (he grew up there- didn't move here until he was 18) and no one in my family has ever done the pickle thing. I also have a German co-worker (from a different region than my family) and she's never heard of it either. :confused3

Nevertheless, I think it's a cute idea and I have a pickle ornament to carry on the.... er..... German tradition.

I'm not going anywhere, this is too much fun.

I almost didn't make it though :rotfl: I was doing the pee pee shuffle through the kitchen to get to the bathroom.

And just to send us off on another tangent..... I have to fight for the pickles in our house. Everytime I put one in the fridge, some one comes along and takes it......

But this reminded me of a town I lived in for a couple of years after college. On New Years Eve they would "drop" a HUGE glittery, sequined pickle into a barrel. That was the highlight of the night. I always thought that was SOOO funny!

That wouldn't happen to be Dillsburg, Pa would it???
