Do you play hide the pickle?

I hate to be the serious voice, but my SIL is German and is living in Germany while my DH's brother is in Iraq. I emailed her if this was something she has ever heard of. She replied that her family does this every year. She went on to say that not every German follows the same traditions, and that each German state has their own customs back in the day that each state was ruled by a Duke, Prince or King.

I know a family living in Utah that has done this for several generations and they said it came from their UK and Welsh ancestors.

Now back to the actual ornament. I have a friend whose been hiding one for years. She doesn't give gifts but the guys love to look for the picle for bragging rights at her holiday party. My DH found it last year and was still talking about it so I bought him an ornament when I was at WDW in June. We moved right after and he went looking for the ornament when we put the tree up at Thanksgiving and couldn't find it. He was so upset but went up in the attic last weekend and opened every box we had just put up there to find the ornament. And guess what LOL it wasn't there. He did however find it Saturday morning in his junk door still in its box all wrapped up just waiting to be hung. So now our pickle is hidden in the tree just waiting for someone to come and find it. LOL
