I recognize signatures and pictures more than names. There are a few posters that I know because they are particularly fun and helpful, and a few that I know because they always seem to have their panties in a twist, have complaints/issues on a regular basis and are just plain ornery.

I am a just curious if others do. I know C. Ann because she posts in blue that I can see better and a couple others based on some of their pics. This is a big board and there are alot of posters some come and go, some I am sure are on here often. I most of the time don't look to see what the name is of the person posting mostly for the reason that I have been on message boards so long that if someone says something i don't agree with or is rude repeatedly it gets to me pretty bad. So I don't pay any attention here so I am not taking sides in anything or getting resentments going based on replies. I started a thread one time about how I was so upset that my neighbors brat backed out on my on DD's birthday trip to disaneyland and got flamed beyond belief. I didn't pay any attention to who was saying stuff to me which is a good thing because I bet I would still be pissed LOL. Just curious about you guys.

Since I've been around for so long I recognize lots of posters. I am always happy to see people show up who haven't been around for awhile. I think anyone who hangs around long enough begins to see the different personalities of all the posters.

Every Christmas when I put up my trees I come across ornaments that other DISers have sent me when I particpated in the ornament exchange. Brenda (Buckalew11) sent me the cutest wooden ornament and I think of her every year when I put it on my tree.

OMG was the hand towel thread YOURS??? I clearly remember the thread but did not "know" you then to recall that it was yours. I DO think of you as someone who has a lot of issues with friends/family and neighbors though so you are pretty spot on with the rest. I also notice you because you live in the same city I lived in for about 4 years. I think your husband is a police officer and I always worry about him doing that in that area.

I have no idea who they are referring to At first I thought it was TestifyingCruises who came back soon after she was gone with a new name (it was such a distinct writing style I honestly did not realize the name was different at first) but then that one disappeared very quickly too. However, that does not jive with the further information so I seem to have missed this bit of drama entirely I am dying to know who it is too

Sandra--you are one of the very first posters I started to recognize (but I do not see many posts from you any more; I hope that means you are doing really well now)--I know you are an adult, but on the younger side and you always seemed like you needed a mother to give you good advice (and you always seemed not to take it). I forgot to mention Bumbershoot (Molly) too--she is someone else I picked up on pretty fast because she would mention pretty unique things like her Korean husband. I know her largely for her views on Western Medicine and her concern about food additives and HFCS (Molly, if you are reading this you ought to live where I do--not nearly so much of that junk in the food!) and she gives good travel advice too. Firedancer (whom others have mentioned) is another--he has some really witty stuff at times. He also comments a lot on parenting type threads--which is unusual for a single guy without kids. I have recently started to recognize Magpie because she often states an opinion very similar to my own; I think we are raising our kids in much the same ways.

It is funny thinking about who you have gotten to know and then seeing other names and being clueless.

I considered her and know that she was referenced earlier in this thread; but there is another who disappeared rather suddenly very recently who caused a stink on at least two threads. I'm thinking it might be this one they are talking about, but I still haven't discovered where they may have shown up with a new name.


On a completely different topic, I can't for the life of me remember the name, but clearly remember the poster whose somewhat "excentric" MIL gave her son BACON for Christmas! That was a hilarious story and it was in her signature for a while...

I definitely tend to recognize people more from tags and avatars/sig pics than by names also. There are a few I remember just from seeing them here so much, but they're in the minority.

Since we are talking about people from the past, does anyone remember the poster who had the 2 children and the little girl was killed in a house fire but the mom and little guy escaped? I remember she came back at one point to say she was having another baby, but I don't think she has ever been back.

It was such a tragic story that I think of her often and hope she is well. I also think about the poster whos young husband died while they were on vacation. I think she came back to say she had remarried, but I don't think I have seen her since.

I think of these posters and how tragic these stories are and hope the best for them.
