"Do You Mind?" - Disney Adventures with Teens August Trip Report

Somebody told me
that everything she wants is everything she sees.
I guess I must have loved you
cause I said you were the perfect girl for me...

...and now you tell me that you're having my baby...

TELL ME he's not singing to me, scott!

and:
Heaven knows I was just a young boy
Didn't know what I wanted to be
I was every little hungry schoolgirl's pride and joy
And I guess it was enough for me

(but I have to admit, if you read the rest of the Freedom lyrics, he's talking about changing his ....em....image)

I'd still play canasta with him.

Let's see, the Illuminations that I saw in May 1999 is very different than the one today. That one featured more lasers from the tops of the WS buildings. I believe that Illuminations was changed some time during 1999 for the Millenium because I think that it was different during my Dec 2000 trip. Personnally, I preferred the old one better than the current one. For some reason, I just don't get the "story"/symbolism of the stuff projected on the globe during the middle of the show. :confused3

I will be posting in a little while.

Here is a little teaser:

Some big decisions were made today.

Will we fly from Austin or Memphis?

Will we leave the 8th or the 9th?

Also, I ran a very important errand today.

Chew on that! ;)

Your killing me Susan!!! :lmao:

Eye candy!!!

Oh my gosh!!! Everyone is posting and I can't catch up.
Slow down, Y'all! I'm an old lady and can't keep up with you youngin's!!!
Quick, lead me to the Segway booth!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My biggest purchase at Wal Mart today was a new printer/copier/scanner.

And I no longer have access to a Fax machine since I'm retired. I went to Kinko's and paid nearly $3 to fax one page. So DD, Susan, says, "Mom, I just bought this great printer/copier/scanner at Wal-Mart today and they have a fax machine for only a couple of more dollars."

Soon after that conversation, I had an eye exam. So on my way home (with dilated eyes and dark glasses) I stopped by Wal-Mart. And guess what......I got a color printer/copier/scanner/fax machine for $25 LESS than Susan's purchase.

At first I thought perhaps I was misreading the price since I could hardly see. But, indeed, I did get more for less! I can use that extra $ in WDW.

The obligatory Dumbo picture.

If you look really closely, you will see that my cousin Amy and I are riding in that one elephant on the left in the back with Mom.

Look closer, Susan. That's not me. That's your Aunt Debbie. I had dark hair in pony tails that day.

Here we are on the Carousel:
OldDisney0001.jpg

I say "we" because I really am not the only one in this picture. I can see Mom in her pigtails and Jo just to the right of her, in the back, right hand side of the picture.

NOW you've got it right. There I am in my pigtails!

Wow! There was a lot of chatting on here today -- do I sense some growing excitement!!! ;)

And I just have to laugh about the whole canasta thing that started over on Jen's thread, because we actually have played a lot of canasta (the actual card game), but now I can never mention that because everyone would be like :scared1: ! :rotfl:
Definitely growing excitement! For awhile, there was no planning to do. Now, there's not enough time!

My sister and I used to play canasta online alot on pogo. It's lots of fun. We were just talking about deleting our pogo memberships since she will be living so close now.

I haven't gotten much done since summer started :lmao:
Yeah, if you don't count finding an apartment, moving out of the old, unpacking in the new, having a new nephew, planning an exceptional Disney trip, and having popsicles and Grey Goose with Voldemort. You've gotten NOTHING done. I have to agree with you. :rotfl:

You could always pack a bag of trail mix and get PB cups at the resort. I would not advise carrying chocolate in the Florida heat :scared1:
This from the lady who INSISTS on buying an expensive chocolate monorail for the 4-year-old who has everything! :rotfl2: I don't think I'll pack the trail mix. We won't need it. Plenty of food.

:lmao: Do you have a premade scrapbook?
No. My friend does CM but I can't get myself to spend the time on it. Just like I can't justify spending 4 hours playing golf. It's one of those things.

I'm thinking of organizing everything in the binder in those see through plastic page sleeves. This way I won't have to fish around a disorganized folder. I am not this organized in my everyday life. I don't balance my checkbook or even record all of the checks I write or debit card purchases I make. My mom works in banking and cringes whenever I tell her.
My binder has lots of plastic sleeves. They are semi-waterproof and I can pull them out and take them with me.

I don't balance my checkbook either. I also don't record all my checks. Who has time? And I'm an accountant!!

I'm going to subscribe to the UG website today. It's so cheap, so why not?
So did you?

So glad to hear your mom will get a new bag for her birthday.
We're shopping. So far I like your Tumi best. She wants something just big enough to carry a bottle of water, and doesn't want a backpack.

We have 19 days!!!! Or 2 weeks, 5 days :lmao:
I am so excited!! I like counting the days better than the weeks. Do you think our tickers will switch to days sometime soon?

Wow, you've been busy! I hope Tate recovers well. I see you solved your ME dilemma. I think you could very easily wear business casual on the plane and not have to pack anything extra. I think they just mean not casual casual, not really business-y. We just packed out swimsuits in our carry-ons - I really loved not having to do baggage claim!

Oh, and cute clothes! Must. Not. Go. Shopping...
Tate seems to be ok. Katie is there tonight. I am not sure if he saw the orthopedic today. Will keep y'all posted.

Thanks for the advise on ME. We are definitely doing that.

Susan,

I hope Tate heals quickly! I have no clue what canasta is:confused3 Does that make me a dork?:rotfl: Let me know how Garden Grocer works out, might have to try that on our next trip!:thumbsup2 Big Thumbs up to Jo for buying mom a "cool bag" for her birthday:thumbsup2
Thanks for thinking of Tate. He's a good kid. Canasta is a card game - sorta like Gin Rummy. Two can play. I guess more could play - not sure. If you really want to get it, you almost have to read both Jen's (Native NYer) and my PTRs simultaneously. We are always good for a few laughs a day. So Jen's been playing alot of canasta with Voldemort lately.

I will let you know about GG. I think you have to order lots to make it worth it, since the delivery fee is $12 and they expect a tip on top of that.

Yeah, glad Mom won't be sportin' her Mickey Mouse fanny pack this time.

I don't know what canasta the actual card game is, but I have a pretty good idea of what "canasta" is code for. :rotfl:
I have a pretty good idea that your pretty good idea is the right idea. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

I think our tickers are possessed! I want it to say days. Weeks seem so LONG!!!

I've never played the card game before. I dated a compulsive gambler and learned how to play poker. If it's not at a casino, I don't know how to play.

Fly to NYC. George is in concert at the Garden. I wonder what hotel he's staying at :rolleyes1

well your trip is close so I will sign up again. I just cannot do the ones that are so far out. I am a little busy lately. :rolleyes1

so what did I miss.
Yeah, it was tough when I was 100+ days out. Not much happening. You have to read mine and Jen's at the same time.

Do you think George plays canasta in groups? :confused3
Maybe in groups in the mens room. :lmao:

Susan, are you having a moment? :lmao:

I love GM's music!!!
I had a moment. Or two. I was listening to his full discography at work today. Trying to figure out if he was singing to me. He was singing to me about that time that he wasted the chance that he'd been given and he's never gonna dance again the way he danced with me. Time couldn't mend those careless whispers. :confused3

I think he'd play canasta with you too. He seems like he'd be into new games.
Prolly so.

Let's see, the Illuminations that I saw in May 1999 is very different than the one today. That one featured more lasers from the tops of the WS buildings. I think that's what TGM meant. He said the show was developed for the millennium. Maybe that's when they changed it from the old show. I guess we'll have to try it.

Your killing me Susan!!! :lmao:
That's the point, isn't it?

Eye candy!!!
Sweet! Thanks so much. I needed that.

Oh my gosh!!! Everyone is posting and I can't catch up.
Slow down, Y'all! I'm an old lady and can't keep up with you youngin's!!!
Quick, lead me to the Segway booth!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Keep up, lady.

I think this is my opportunity to remind you that YOU and Katie dressed alike for her first birthday party. Remember the red, blue, and yellow stripes???
We did. Also we had those stupid pinstriped teddy bear jumpers. I have a pic of that too. Back in the early 90's, that's what all the cool moms did. We dressed like our kids.

I think our tickers are possessed! I want it to say days. Weeks seem so LONG!!!

I've never played the card game before. I dated a compulsive gambler and learned how to play poker. If it's not at a casino, I don't know how to play.

We are going to have to exorcise our tickers. Does anyone know witchcraft?

The card game is fun. It's a good way to waste time waiting for the Grey Goose to kick in.

When? Tonight??? You have to go vigilante paparazzi for us. I want to see pics! I can't get there tonight. Wonder what type of crowd George will draw?

He's in concert at the Garden Wednesday night at in DC on the 29th. I'm getting to one of those concerts. I want George to carelessly whisper in my ear!
