I've been eating sushi since I was 4 years old. We lived in New York and my dad's office was in Times Square near one of the first Japanese restaurants. My parents were adventurous eaters. They got me eating and liking it and then I asked them what I was eating. When they told me raw fish it didn't faze me in the least. Have always prefered it to the cooked stuff and because I have been eating it for so long, it is kind of like eating a hot dog to me.

If you haven't tried it, I would suggest starting with the following - crab sushi (it is cooked), tuna (maguro or toro), hamachi (yellow tail), shrimp (cooked again), smoked salmon. If you like these then you can be more adventurous - i.e. halibut, freshwater salmon, eel (it is cooked and it is sweet). Then you can do scallop, clam (my favorite is the giant clam, but there is surf clam, red clam, etc.) Lastly, and I even had to get used to it, uni (raw sea urchin) - only if you absolutely love sushi - it kind of tastes like fish liver. Once I ate something that turned out to be teensy weensy little fish with their teensy weensy little eyes looking at me - that was a bit gross.

I love it, it's one of my favorites! My DH always says I should have married a sushi chef that can cook for me every night He isn't a big fan of it so I either go by myself or with friends!

i've eaten some types of sushi. my favorite is the tuna roll. just so you know, if you eat tuna, you're eating raw fish people! lol. i've had that, and i've had a veggie roll. those are the only types i like. i don't like any other kind of fish besides tuna, so i wouldn't like it.

my sister kept trying to tell me to try the eel one but i just couldn't do it. gross!

actually i HATE cooked salmon, but I like raw salmon, tastes nothing the same. I can't do the eel either. Eels freak me out. (the scary water snakey looking animals not the band).

i've had salmon a few times, only once did i actually enjoy it. it was breaded with something, i can't remember once. but the breading took away the "Fishy" taste. I can't stand the "fishy" taste of fish. It's just too......well....fishy lol.

yeah Eel is pretty gross. i don't want to eat that, thank you.

I love sushi. When I saw the big hunk of raw tuna my brother was offering me I was fairly hesitant but I really liked it. I prefer the flavor of the tuna sashimi to the white fish.
