Do you like snow?

Hate it...Hate it...Hate it!

And here I am living in Vermont. Go figure. I used to be able to tolerate it when I was younger but not now. Did I mention that I hate it?

Do I like snow? Hahahaha....Well, here's what I learned when I moved from FL (where I was born/raised) to upstate NY (30mi south of Canada) lol..

Snow is not like on tv all powdery and clean..it has layers. There is a dirt layer, a dog pee layer, a pooh layer, an oil layer (from cars), a layer of salt, several layers of ice, and a top layer of powder..but only for a few hours before it morphs into one of the above mentioned layers..normally something to do with pee.

Snow burns like fire when it presses against your skin..it is so cold it literally burns lol.

There is a thing called the "snow belt" and trust me you don't want to live near it lol..five feet in seven hours is simple ridiculous!!!

Snow "preserves" roadkill...wait until the thaw and prepared to be grossed out by what you were building snowmen on top of lol.

Snow sometimes disguises itself as black ice..which if you stand on it will shoot you down the driveway and into the snowbank across the street leaving you wide eyed and having to rely on a rope to get back up to the top lol..true story..

My fav memory of snow lol..one day we had five feet fall on top of three feet on the ground. DD Remy (pulling the sled) was 7 and on the local news for her determination to get to the sledding hill...she made it a few more feet before turning back lol...

Needless to say after the first two weeks of oh how pretties, I do NOT like snow lol..specially living somewhere it falls for 9 mos of the year lol...

If i never saw snow again the rest of my life, i would be one happy woman!

winter means snowshoeing and skiing, exploring new places in the Adirondacks that are sometimes impassable in summer due to beaver dams, bogs, swamps, and alder thickets.

Driving in the snow isn't that bad ... you just have to be careful and watchful of those other folks who think they can drive at any speed simply because they have a SUV.

Last winter we were running out of places to put the snow from our sidewalk and driveway ...

SNOW is a four letter word.

If I never saw another snowflake again for the rest of my life, I wouldn't miss it.

I don't like the cold in general.

I LOVE the snow! OK, I love it until about mid-February and then I have had enough.

I lived in FL for 2 years and made sure to come back up north both winters just to get a fill of it.

Sitting inside at a fireplace or even outside at a fire in the winter is great. My favorite winter nights are when we have a bunch of snow on the ground and a full moon. It is so bright. I throw some hot apple cider or hot cocoa in a thermous and head out into the woods, sometimes in snow shoes. I've done Winter hikes all night and have just gone right for the woods to the shower to work the next day.

I love all the seasons and even if I lived somewhere warm again I would have to make a pilgrimage back up north when I could.

I love snow when I don't have to go out in it :) I lived in Cincinnati for two years and had to walk 1.5 miles into work every day (I was too cheap to pay the $150 a month to park in the parking garages next to where I worked so I paid $35 a month to park in practically another state). So every morning in the winter I'd get up, spend half an hour warming up my car (I had a Jeep Wrangler which never really got warm) and scraping ice/snow off, then drive to some desolate parking lot on the outside of downtown Cincy, then trudge my way in to work.

That being said I LOVE renting a cabin in TN during the winter and enjoying the snow. It is beautiful and peaceful.

i hate snow. i hate being cold. fortunately for me, i live too close to the ocean for snow. and also fortunately, christmas over here is in summer.

although i do dream of one day having a white christmas, curling up next to the fire with a steaming cup of hot chocolate and a thick blanket. it just sounds romantic. despite the cold.

Nooooooo.........

I saw snow on the ground for the first time when I was about 7.

We were all excited to see snow for the first time. Dad said we were driving to the mountains to play in the snow. We had seen it on TV and it looked like fun. So an hour and a half later, we pull up to the side of the road and there is a clearing full of snow, and my sister and I jump out into it...and it is COLD. And WET! What the heck? It didn't look cold or wet on TV. We ended up going right back inside the van to warm up and get dry.

The end!

I ONLY like snow if I am inside, don't have to go anywhere, it is freshly fallen, and everything looks pretty... for one day.......otherwise...
I DESPISE it!
sorry... this is why hubby and I want to move to mickey land.... I hate driving in snow! and I was born and raised in Chicago!! most of our friends want to retire to wisconsin! we despise ice fishing, ice skatng and sledding are so-so, never cared for snow mobiling I hate heights, so skiing is out,.. LOVE SUN SUN!!!!
our friends say.. well, what about Christmas? how can it be Christmas without snow?

my response: I'm fairly SURE it wasn't snowing in Bethlehem!!!!
(and twinkling lights look darned GOOD on palm trees!):rotfl:

I like snow through the holiday season. On January 2nd, it no longer has to snow. I would be happy to have January and February be cold but snowless, and then in march, let Spring begin!

I would probably like snow better if I did not have elderly parents who I worry about slipping and falling because God forbid they should stay home if it's snowing and slippery, or God forbid they should wait until we get there to help them shovel!

Well that will kill about a half an hour...what do you do the rest of the winter? I'll tell you what you do...you shiver. You strain to clear enough snow off your car to get out with a bunch of people that seem, in my mind, to have never seen snow before in their lives. You drive down ice covered highways knowing that any second some idiot will panic and slam on his/her brakes and slide into you. Try to find your way through blinding blizzards and snow blowing across the highway. Lovely! You step out and have the snow go over your shoes or boots and the cold melting stuff trickles down inside your shoe making your socks wet (a condition that is day long).

Then you get home and push yourself to near cardiac arrest clearing out the remaining snow, even with a snow blower. You pay higher taxes to pay for snow removal. You pay high rates for fuel to keep your body from becoming just a solid mass of ice and your pipes from freezing. You go outside for a while and your face, hands and feet are cold and uncomfortable and you also have layers of clothing on thick enough that you can fall down and not have enough flexibility left to get back up.

But most of all...you make sure that you have a vacation planned in Florida sometime near the point of winter where you are on the verge of total insanity. Look around if your in Florida in or around the end of February. There is a good chance that you will see me there. I'm the one with shorts and t-shirt when locals are wearing parkas. I'll also be the one asking them, "what are you going to do if it gets cold out?"

Absolutely love it!!

Crossing my fingers for a white Christmas this year...it's been awhile so we're due!!

Love snow and driving in it. Hate the fact that we get a lot of snow in northern PA and every year, everyone on the roads completely forget how to drive in it and all drive like morons.

I'm from FL so snow is a novel thing for me. Because of that I love snow!!! I like being outside, sledding, snuggling by a fireplace watching the snow, etc. BUT, I doubt that I would actually enjoy living somewhere where it snowed (I'm a big wimp). I wouldn't like shovelling snow, scraping off my windshield, etc.

All of that being said: I don't like being cold and I don't like having wet clothes.

I'm wishy washy.
