Do you have an all time favorite book?

I love the book " The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. I still cry at the end of the book, even as an adult.

i absolutly love the gossip girl novels! they are my favorite right now. i cant wait for the next one to come out.i also love the book they cage the animals at night
**Sarah**

I can't pick. I love too many. But when I was little, I loved the Betsy-Tacy books. I actually bought them all again a few years ago.

Older me loves Brave New World (Huxley) and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (Betty Smith). Also, I love all of Rosamunde Pilcher's books, especially Coming Home.

Wuthering Heights

As a child-- Are you there God its me Margaret (Judy Blume)

And my favorite book of all times that I have read over and over is She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb- LOVE IT

Momtomootoo - If you could expain the book "She's come undone" to me I would appreicate it. My friends and I read it after all the great reviews and all of us thought it was horrible.

I'm a light reader - so I've never read "To Kill a Mockingbird" or Jane Eyre so my books seem shallow.

I reread the Born in Series by Nora Roberts all the time. I just love the characters and tend to reread the series 1 or 2 times a year.

Harry Potter books - love em!

I Know why the Red Fern Grows was my favorite book as a kid and I reread it often.

I do enjoy Little Women and have read that a couple of times.

Daphne DuMaurier's "Rebecca" is my all time favorite novel! "Wuthering Heights" is a very close second. Both were made into awesome movie versions starring Sir Laurence Olivier---Mmmmm...I've got a THANG for that man!

The "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series - except maybe the last book. I just can't deal with what happens in that last one... :(

"Catch-22" - a classic, very re-readable! I just wish someone would do a new movie version of it. The original movie didn't capture the spirit of the book at all. It needs to be longer and more frenetic - and Yossarian must be played by Johnny Depp! And David Strathairn as Chaplain Tapman. And Leonardo DiCaprio as Milo Minderbinder. And... well, you get the idea.

And I do love those Harry Potter books, too! :teeth:

Fun! I love to read. I am currently re-reading _Harry Potter 3_

One of my favorites is _Franny and Zooey_ by JD Salinger. I also enjoy _The Catcher in the Rye_

A series that i absolutley love is "The Series of Unfortunate Events_ I started reading them years ago and just love them. I see now they are making a movie based on the books with Jim Carey:rolleyes:

To Kill A Mockingbird , andThe Thornbirds Love to reread these books.

Sandy

I loved the All of A Kind family too! So does my DD8. My favorite kids books were Goodnight Moon (can still recite it) and "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie". And, of course, the Little House books.
Now, I love anything by LaVyrle Spencer, and Karen Kingsbury.

(Sorry, just can't pick one favorite!)

I loved the Nancy Drew series when I was young.

I read "Jemima J" last year, and that book was SO great! I found myself rooting for JJ the whole way through!

I love "The boxcar children" I remember me and my brothers reading it when I was very young!

There's this book I SO wish I could find. My mom use to pick it up from the library. It was about a little girl who has a birthday party and ends up going into a tv screen into this magical world. I remember the illustrations being full of turquoise and pink amongst other colors. It was the most magical book when I was a child. I have no idea which book this was but I'd loooove to find it!

She's Come Undone was a great book - Wally Lamb is terrific.

Dark Tower Series (1, 2, 3, 5 were great - 4 sucked) by Stephen King

Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver

Jane Eyre - definitely one of the best classics

Septbride2002...I am with you, I loved the born in series!!
Of course I love Harry Potter!! And I also loved Where the red fern grows!!

Ok I am off to buy To kill a mocking bird and look up this All of a kind book!!

This is a great thread!! Keep them coming!

I will try to think of one that I loved that is NOT already on the list!

I can read Wuthering Heights over and over without ever getting tired of it. Love that book! :teeth: I have the tape by Masterpiece Theater...the dog chewed it up the other day. :( (Hmmm...why is the dog gone from the smilies list but the cat remains?) :(
