Do you have a problem with people asking your age?

I usually volunteer it too. I'm not all that happy about it (turning 40 next month! ) but what can I do? Make the best of it, heh heh.

On the subject of having kids later in life, I had mine at 30 and 33, and that seems to be about the average age to have kids in this area. I thought I would be an older mom but I'm pretty much smack in the middle - lots of Moms of my kid's friends are in their 20's, with an equal amount in their 40's. And Lisa, I am laughing over your story with mistaking your child's friend's Mom for her sister, I've done the same thing!

No, I don't mind--and count me in as a "young mom", too (although not quite so young anymore). I had my first son when I was 22. When my (now ex) husband and I went to the daycare at the local university (we were looking for a couple hours per week, so I'd get a little time to myself), it really freaked HIM out that the mom in the other couple on the tour, whose child was the same age as ours was, was my husband's history teacher in high school! It doesn't seem to come up as much now that the kids are older, but I used to get a lot of comments on my age when we were all younger.

Not at all, people think I'm younger than I really am so I love that!
I'll be 47 in August, and people can't believe I have grandchildren that are 8 and almost 11

My Mom turned 67 last month and people can hardly believe she is a GREAT-grandmother of children mentioned above.

It would never occur to me to be offended about the "rude" people who ask my age! Now ask me what size bra I wear and I might be taken a little aback!

I'm turning 30 today, but women in our family tend to look a bit on the young side... at my last job most people thought I was the typical "fresh out of grad school" age of about 25 or so. My sister is very petite and is 26 now but most people think she is much younger. When she went to get a library card in her new town, the woman behind the counter asked her if she was born in the 80's or 90's!!! (She was born in 1978). She doesn't get offended necessarily but it does annoy her that she looks so young. The really funny thing about her is that even more adult clothes, haircut and makeup doesn't help as she ends up looking like a little girl who is dressing up.

On another topic, I am sooooooooo glad to hear that women in their 30's when they have kids are the norm. I was really starting to feel like something was wrong with me since I haven't had kids yet. The decision to completely switch majors with 3 years of college behind me rather than go into further debt for a major I hated plus going to grad school really set me behind the baby track.

It will be a few more years as DH and I pay off some debt so that we can comfortably afford to live on one salary. I just know too many women who had to make some really tough decisions about whether or how soon to go back to work and I would really like that decision to come from the heart and not the checking account. What REALLY drives me nuts is how many people will tell me "oh, you will NEVER be financially secure enough," like we're some kind of freaks for having certain goals that we want met so that money on one salary isn't an issue. Even the gyn I went to when we lived in MD told me back when I was 28 "If you wait too long, you will be sorry!" I thought I at least had a LITTLE time, geez!

Anyway sorry to insert my rant in there! I don't have a problem with my age but I do have a problem with people who tell me something is wrong with me because I haven't had kids yet!

I don't mind being asked my age as I still look pretty young for my age(45). I love to be told I don't look old enough to have kids as old as mine(almost 22 & 19) or that there's no way I could have worked for the same company for 25 years! I just laugh and tell them I started working at age 10!

The last time I was carded for alcohol was when I was 40 - boy, did that make my day!

I don't really mind, I'm 44. Everyone says I look younger than that. The strange thing happens when someone asks how long I've worked for my company. I started right out of high school and it will be 27 years this summer. So when I say 27 years, people are surprised saying I don't look "that old". I make a joke out of it, I say I started when I was 10!

I don't mind my age at all but people's reaction...well, that's another story!

Unlike all of you guys I do look every minute of my age and then some. Unfortunately! So no one ever thinks twice about my having a dd that is a sophmore in college. But whenever the age issue has come up and they realize how young I actually am then I never hear the end of it!

I'd rather they ask than guess that I'm older than I am. Luckily, most people guess younger!

I didi once have this coworker who just seemed overall negative...she put up a normal face, but some of her comments seemd like veiled insults to me. Such as when I told her I was twenty four, and she said, "Really? I would have guessed you were at least thirty."

I'm twenty seven now, and luckily no longer work with her!

I'm 30 and look 12. I have people asking me all the time how old I am. Because when I go pour a beer at work they ask if old enough to pour.

My sister was like that. One time in her late 20s she was at a bowling alley drinking a beer. A policeman came up to her and just lit into her about underage drinking, etc. Her driver's license was out in the car so she had no proof of age on her. He marched her out to the car threatening to call parents, etc and when she produced her DL stating that she was 28 his only reactions was "Well you don't look it."

I'm 12 years older and I used to get people asking about my 'little girl'.

Age is relative. It's also a gift. Problem is I lose track.
I have to ask my age sometimes.
BTW I'm 53 - I just asked DH

I just turned 51 and am THANKFUL for everyone I have...if i didnt have birthdays I would be ,,UMMMMMMMM (well NOT ALIVE LOL) I don't mind people asking,,I am told all the time I don't look 51,,and as long as they think I look YOUNGER thats' ok ,,heehee!!!!

I don't mind being 41. I've always said I've been blessed with great genes and an even greater moisturizer, so I don't look my age. Most people think I'm 33-35. I did not like, however, being called "middle-aged" by another softball mom. True or not, that really depressed me.

ITA!!! I have to stop, and figure out what year THIS is, then subtract...

Nah, I don't care who knows my age. (I'm 43.)

I do not mind people asking my age, which is 48 I would rather they ask my age than my weight....

They are only numbers to me, you are as old as you feel. Mentally I am very young but my body at times thinks I am 102!!!

Anyone know where I can trade in some aging body parts for newer models....
