Do you have a problem with people asking your age?

Cause I look a little younger than 46!:o Dan, you are THAT old??  WOW, thats anicent! (Just kidding, DH will be 65 in Oct.):p My Brother is your age too.:p

It depends on why they are asking.

BTW - I am 27..since I didnt mention it. But, exactly Dan! I had a mom that was shocked when I told her. She called me a baby, but later on...she told me that she thought I was doing great for someone my age! That made me feel good.

But the Gymboree moms were really snotty about it. "Oh what do you know..you are just a baby." Annoying!

The reason I asked in becuase I PM'd a Diser and asked..but said please do not respond if you think it is rude. He didnt respond for a day (only becuase he missed it) and it didnt bother him at all.

Just got me thinking....

Only bothers me at work. I'm the youngest in my department...and the youngest amongst all the department admins...so of course they call me the baby  I then have to remind them that my husband is the same age as my boss :p :teeth: **I'm 27..he's 38** They typically shut their traps after that.

LOL! My boss always told me that if we lived in Alabama, she could be my mom! LOL! (sorry alabama people!) She was 38 and I was 21...so I guess she was right, but yeah I defiantely was the youngest there too. I was sooo glad to stop working.

And then I met the other moms! :p

 Reminds me of my friend Kelli. She's our age as well and an Asst. Director at a daycare center. Most of the parents are floored when they see that she's in charge and her son (who is 2) goes there as well. I crack up whenever she has new stories about the parents.

Of course, I'd rather be younger! I'll be turning 35 this year and that freaks me out a bit. I have a great mix of friends (age wise).. I"ve got a couple that are younger, but most are my age or older.

Not problem until someone calls me Ma'am!!! hehe! Ever since I was in my teens people have thought I'm much older than I actually am.

Man, we get a bad rap here in Bama. As soon as Paw gets back from huntin critters, we are gonna hop in the truck and go see a picture show. Next week we get that indoor plumbin stuff. I ain't real sure about that there stuff. INDOOR BATHROOMS????? Crazy.

There are very few questions that bother me. Ok, there is very little in general that bothers me, abd this is not one of them.
I'm 29, going on 5.

LOL, I had my tubes tied at 27 after having 3 children!

OCM, I understand what you are saying, but you will be much happier about it when you are in your 30s...

It bothered me when my eldest started preschool and I felt like a fish out of water because I was only 23 and the other moms were so much older (decades for the most part). Now, doesn't bother me at all. When I get the ole "You are just a baby!!!''...I just smile and wink and say...
"Yep, We started young and we will finish young, our master plan is coming together nicely, Thanks!..." or...

"Thanks, we are so proud that we were able to accomplish so much, so young!!"

That usually shuts them up...:teeth:

Funny....the big joke is that I am "28"....for the last few years......just hit "38".....and truthfully, I have a bad problem with it.....my mom was, and still it "29"!!!!

I still feel "19"....and I guess that is what it is...."you are as old as you feel"

Another funny thing.....DD Madison (8) had a friends mother pick her up one day....I thought she was "the sister".....I actually asked her how old she was......24!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just about died......I know never hear the end of it of how "cool Kerigans mom is"......"she listens to all our music!!!!"".....I just feel so old around her!!,,,,,,,,,I could almost be her mom!!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't bother me after all it is just a number. Although I have been known to scare myself when I think about turning 29 this year. When i was much younger i thought i would be married with lots of kids by that age as it seemed so old.

I am married now but no children yet.

which is why I try to refrain from asking others their age.

When I transferred to Baylor University (national Tennis Champs-see my sig!) I was a little older than my Baylor peers (it took me 7 years to get my BA), so I felt that I am lagging behind my peers from high school. In fact, I still feel that I'm lagging behind my HS peers. I'll give people my decade (I'm in my twenties), and that's about it.

HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT! I find it to be incredibly rude when someone you don't know guesses your age. I look VERY young for my age and I am 19.

One day when I was with my mom and I was buying a lottery ticket from a machine. I said something to my mom and the lady next in line says "let me guess, 6th grade?!" to my mom. It was so embarrassing and I found it to be VERY rude. Sometimes people will tell me that they think I'm 13 or 14. And I tell them I'm 19 and they can't believe it! They say "well when you're older, you'll appreciate it." Well I'm 19 now and I don't want to be told I look like a middle schooler when I'm in my second year of college.

Sorry for the long rant. But I think people should be more considerate if they don't know the person. For all they know, the person could look young because of a disease. I have a kidney disease and have to take medicine which stunts my growth. So to have someone say something about me looking like I'm 12, it just reminds me of everything I have had to deal with from my disease.

I'm sorry for being such a whiner and it may sound like I'm taking it too seriously. But sometimes, asking someones age can mean just more than the age of someone.

No, it doesn't bother me at all. I am 37 and proud of it. Folks generally think I am younger than I am, which is fine by me.

Same here-I still get carded for beer! Perhaps it's because I still have some acne problems

It does not bother me at all, I'm 27. I do look a little younger than that though.

I actually think it's rude to ask someone a personal question like that. I don't mind volunteering my age but I usually forget what it is. Let's see I was born in April 1962 so that would make me???? 42. Very few people would guess my age because I look younger than I am (good genes from mom) and have a young child. While a few parents of DD's classmates and neighborhood friends are my age the majority are younger (early to mid 30's) so they just assume I'm around the same age.
