My company has service awards after 2, 5, 10, and every five years after that. The 2 and 5 recipients are combined at a luncheon at some rented facility. For 10 there is a catered lunch on the lawn of the company headquarters. For 15, 20, etc. there is a dinner dance at a ballroom. Spouses or a plus one invited.
Gifts are chosen from a catalogue. It used to be a booklet back in the Stone Age, now it’s from a website. Gifts get better the longer the service. And as
@NotUrsula mentioned above, we get additional paid days off during that particular year; the number depends on length of employment.
At 25 years we automatically get invited to the annual retreat/trip for that year’s top performers.
I have a combined 25 years of service, but there was an eight year gap in between. I didn’t quite make my first 10 year anniversary, but on the second time around I made it to 15. The 2020 celebration was postponed until 21 so it was larger than normal.
My supervisor pulled some strings and I’ll be eligible for my 25th anniversary trip next spring to the Dominican Republic, if all goes well. That may be the only reason I won’t retire by the end of this year.
