We usually rent from Alamo or National, but high rates have us considering Dollar for our Presidents Week trip?

Do you get to pick your own car like you can with Alamo?

Also, if you have rented from them in the past, what type of cars are usually availabe in the compact category. I see they have listed a Dodge Caliber, and that looks OK, but could I get stuck with something else? (We are used to renting Intermediates.)

Nope, they hand you the keys to a particular vehicle. We got a Caliber last time, time before that we got a PT Cruiser.

Thanks DVC Don! One more question...
So do you have to walk out to the lot to get it? How do you know which car it is? Is it in a numbered spot?

I feel like such a newbie to this! I'm used to just hopping in a car on EA and going! :car:

Sometimes they are in a numbered spot. Or, as was the case with us the last time we rented from Dollar at the Grosvenor Resort, the agent said to walk out to the parking lot and hit the panic key on the key fob and the loud blinking car would be ours. :lmao: Either way, I'm sure the agent at the counter will be able to direct you.

Have a great trip!

Just to clarify - at many airports, you get to pick your car with Dollar. MCO isn't one of them.

I wouldnt say 'many' - Ive been able to pick my car at dollar at probably.. 2-3 national airports. Usually I get handed a set a keys :confused3

Yes like the other posters said. At MCO after paying inside at the counter, you go to the lot and go to the kiosk and give the person your paperwork. They then give you a key and tell you the number spot your car is in. That is one thing I didn't like about Dollar, but it is my third choice. Seems we ALWAYS get a white car....yikes...

In December we were given a set of keys and that was it. No mention of the row or anything. Lucky for us it was the first car behind the kiosk.

How are the lines at Dollar?
I have never used them but so far they are the cheepest for March.

I land at 8am at MCO, I hope the lines aren't to bad....
