Do you ever check or keep track of the miles you walk on a trip?

A lot of smart phones have apps that keep track of your activity without you even realizing it. No need for something like a Fitbit to track your walking. My wife and I went to Disney World for our honeymoon last year. We were nonstop for 10 days and at the end of the vacation I decided to check and the tracker on my phone said we walked 83.8 miles.

If only I could get myself to do that much exercise when not at Disney World!

Yes. I average around 10 miles a day at WDW and we go frequently so don't back track, know all the short cuts, etc. It's a lot of waking then standing however so not quite the benefit of a 10 mile walk, but enough to stave off the weight gain from all those Mickey bars!

I haven't added up the whole trip. But, it's between 10 and 13 miles per day at the parks. Now, I'll have to add the total on our next trip.

:thanks:

Just got a walk logger app, plan to use it when we go to Puerto Rico next month...

My husband usually does 10-13 miles a day - I average about 3 - I use an ECV but I will park it at times and walk to rides or dining.

I got a free pedometer from Blue Cross last year, and we used it on our last trip. We walked between 4-5 miles per day while at one of the parks.

But, we try to plan it so that we keep our walking to a minimum, not going back and forth repeatedly.

Not on purpose, but my Smart Watch does. We avg about 18,000 steps on most days, though a few have been as much as 22,000

We have both worn fitness trackers the last few trips. At WDW we tend to walk 25k to 33k steps per day (so 13 to 16 miles a day). The 33k step days are usually ones that begin with an 8 AM EMH opening and end with a midnight EMH closing, and we tend to open and close parks each day with no break other than park hopping time. We know the parks backwards and forwards, so it's not due to taking longer routes than we need to. We just like to see and do as much as possible each day, with multiple rides on our favorites, so we just do a lot of walking. Disneyland we do fewer steps per day, more in the 20k to 23k per day range, but those parks are smaller and we took mid-day breaks for about 3 hours when we were there, which we do not do at WDW.

Don't track it but like
Not a clue, except to say it's somewhere between a lot and a ton. Start the day feeling like :yay: and walk out feeling like :crutches:

this as well. I do work out when I'm home and wear a heart rate monitor. I bring it with me and do a 30 min. fast walk around my resort every morning but that is only because I get points from my insurance, more points = discount on insurance rates and free Amazon gift cards.

Last trip we averaged 9 miles - with our then 5 year olds and their iddy-biddy legs!!

I'll be checking it out this time to see how far they go on their big, strong 8 year old ones! DW is the one vacation that I never put on any weight!! Love it

I may try it on our next visit just for curiosity. In my mind, I don't think it's more than a few miles, because we try to be efficient and not criss cross the parks. But in reality, I'll bet it's a lot more than I think it is.

Just checked my iPhone (which tracks your steps in Apple Health)
2000 steps = 1 mile and I did a little over 20,000 avg per day.

In November we did 9-12 miles per day per watch tracker but it never felt like it!

I've been wearing a fitbit for the past two years so I've been able to keep track of my last three vacations.

Day 4: 21,631, 8.78 miles

3 vacation daily average: 24663 steps, 9.75 miles. I'm a park commando and tend to be at the parks from open to close.

We did a couple of times years ago when you had to wear those things called pedometers and measure your steps. When we came back and told people we did 13-16 miles/day, they called us crazy for doing that on vacation. We had to explain that it's not all at once but just going back and forth for the attractions or walking around World Showcase or just walking from your resort room to the bus and the bus to the entrance.

I average at least ten miles a day in Disney, and usually more on MK and Epcot days.
