Do you eat on the Plane to Florida

Do you eat on the flight to Florida?

  • Yes, I eat the food provided by the airline (and maybe my own snacks too)

  • I eat some of the airline food (but maybe eat my own food/snacks)

  • I don't eat any of the airline food, but take my own food with me

  • I don't eat at all (neither airline food nor my own food)

;) Of course its free! I eat everything and usually take the teatime scone back to resort for later , after couple of glasses of wine i will eat anything!! and just not having to cook myself is a godsend! even if in a tin foil baking tray!

Not all airline food is rubbish, just a few pics (Sorry, Image shack does not reduce the size as photobucket does!)

Ah yes, but there is a LITTLE bit more effort made at "the point end" (as another poster has observed)... ;)

Generally I don't think most VS/BA food is bad - even in economy. Most of it is pretty good (considering the constraints they are under).

I actually think that the bA choice and quality is better than Virgin (and that's from a Virgin lover!!)

American is Ok, Continental is in the same lague as BA/VS Singapore is the best though!

I thought that Continental beat Virgin/BA in Business Class though... Although only flown Continental International BusinessFirst once - it was fantastic! Starters, salad dessert and cheese courses served off of trolleys (i.e. as much as liked of whatever you liked, freshy plated for you). Main courses were yummy and freshly plated. Dessert included freshly made ice cream sundaes with choice of sauces (including hot chocolate fudge) and toppings. Oh, and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and milk...

Shame haven't had the opportunity to fly them again since (although the seat isn't brilliant)...

Have never flown Singapore in ANY class of service - maybe one day :)

Yes, I would agree that Continental is better than VS. I understand that they have brought back metal cutlery as well.
We are flying with them this December BHX-NWK-BTV and back and am looking forward to it

Has anyone seen yesterday's Guadian Supplement, there is an interesting feature on aircraft food!

Their domestic first class isn't brilliant - but then none of the US airlines seem to have great domestic first class at the moment... - and their international BusinessFirst seat isn't brilliant either (a little bit better than the old Virgin J2000 - sloping bed - seats). But the food, the service and the overall experience is very good :). We used to fly Virgin/Continental because of airmiles (somehow I feel into collecting Continental airmiles...). Now we mainly fly BA (because of their airmiles, the BA Amex and airmiles through Tesco's Clubcard etc...).

Am sure that you will have a great trip :). Skiing?

Boo

Yes, four weeks in Stowe/Smugglers Notch area

Every second year we go for some skiing as a change from Florida

Trying to get fit for it now with poor success :)

Wow, four weeks sounds FANTASTIC (we only go for 12/13/14 nights skiing).

Have you ever tried Colorado as well? That is where we ski and the snow is lovely.

Getting fit is great - the fitter you are, the easier it is :thumbsup2 . EXCEPT you tend to end up at the bottom of the slope waiting for your other half (who has to take a few more breaks than you... :confused3 :teeth: )

LOVE skiing!

Its been about six years or so since we went to Colorado last (Crested Butte),
very nice powdery snow, wheras Mt Mansfield is more icy :-0

we have also skiied in Wisconsin, that was quite olde worlde

Luckily we are both about the same standard, but the only problem is (and I HOPE its now changed!) that Stowe has a T bar lift and that just KILLS me! :rotfl:

I just like the area, with Ben & Jerrys factory, the cheese shops, teddy bear factories and the trip over to New Hampshire and its no sales tax on goods attitude.

Normally we fly into Boston and drive up after a night in BOS, but we are trying Newark to Burlington by air, so that should be fun if the weather comes in (ROFL!)

I must admit that the ice puts me off the East Coast, but "Ben and Jerrys" factory sounds HEAVENLY! Must admit that the photos that I have seen of that area look really beautiful too... (love the olde worlde architecture)

We tend to go to Steamboat in Colorado (about 3 hours drive or 1 hour flight from Denver). It is quite "Wild West" in character, not many Brits (which can be nice...), and very uncrowded during the week in January. No t-bars either! I agree, those aren't pleasant!

We like to fly from Denver to Hayden (about 30 minutes drive from Steamboat), rather than drive from Denver to Steamboat: it suits us (gets us there the same day - when a 3+ hour drive through dark and snow would be TOO much). Definitely worth trying the Newark-Burlington flight - you don't know until you've tried it... :)

(sorry to take the thread so OT, but skiing is so good...)

i find that the smell of airline food really puts me off....although i usually try and eat at least the bread and the desert.....i'll check out the main meal, if it looks ok i'll pick at it, but im good at sleeping on flights and often sleep straight through the meal.

However I flew with Emirates LHR-DBX-ENT (that heathrow-dubai-entebbe, uganda...i think) and their food was awesome...in fact their planes and their service were awesome too, although i wasnt keen on the quick transfer on the outbound flight (ENT_DBX_LHR...turnaround of 30 mins, im amazed my bag made it!) that was 19 hours in the air and 30 mins on the ground....never again!

Your thread, Boo - you do what you like! ;)

Nah, I am but a passenger in the world of chat forums... should be encouraging the thread to stay on topic, not diving off down off-topic routes... ;)

Would love to fly Emirates one day, like kkymmy, bet their food is really interesting. Have been tempted by Dubai, but am worried about their attitude towards women and that you need to cover up all the time (bikinis and shorts allowed within hotel/resorts, but you really need to cover up - i.e. troussers and long sleeve tops - outside of those...). Maybe one day :)

Think that the smell, of airplane food, is often worse than the taste... ;)

Boo

I eat some of the food on the plane but not the banana Muffins they serve for breakfast yuk

it's actually suprinsingly british...i got a beef medallion with cheese and herb crust with seasonal veggies and gravy, followed by cheesecake with pistaschio nuts on top...cant remember the starter...probabaly a salad of some description but it was brilliant....on the way back to uganda i got a first class meal cos they had loaded one too many trays of first on and not enough economy! that was yummy, salmon fillet with lemon sauce and new potatoes....served on a china plate and eaten with metal cutlery!

Was there an "arab" option? Sounds good anyway! :)

Well done for scoring the extra First Class meal - its good to be the right person in the right place at the right time! ;)
