Do you eat on the Plane to Florida

Do you eat on the flight to Florida?

  • Yes, I eat the food provided by the airline (and maybe my own snacks too)

  • I eat some of the airline food (but maybe eat my own food/snacks)

  • I don't eat any of the airline food, but take my own food with me

  • I don't eat at all (neither airline food nor my own food)

I have a taste of everything and eat what is nice. Always take extra water and chocolate

We always eat on the plane although despite letters of complaint we have NEVER received a childs meal for my DD6 from Gatwick (only from Orlando) and last year the diabetic meal for my wife never materialised (the cabin crew actually said "you can take what you want off the normal meal as you should know what you can and can't eat!!").

Regarding myself, since the first time I told them, I have never told them since about my nut allergy - it was hell!!

I never eat on the plane as the smell of the food makes me feel rough :crazy2:

I always feel bloated and sick after eating plane food so I tend to avoid it, why cant they just offer an M&S sandwitch rather than trying with fancy hot food and failing!

Cos it would probably cost more AND, believe it or not, 98% of passengers would complain that they didn't get a hot meal... ;)

Regarding bloating, try to avoid carbonated drinks on (if you don't already) - always makes me feel bloated... :sad2: I find it best to avoid cola/lemonade and stick to water and fruit juices (think it is because of the decreased air pressure at altitude, any gas in your stomach tends to put more pressure on your stomach). Fortunately, don't find the same problem with champagne (either that, or I REFUSE to believe that there is a problem with champagne...!!!).

Like you i couldn't survive if I didn't eat for that long!

Besides food breaks up the journey & is usually edible

I eat some of the food, although I tend to be a fussy eater and find most of the food over cooked and tasteless :)

We always take plenty of snacks and have a good breakfast / dinner a few hours before we fly.

Champagne supplied to airlines is different to that on the ground. As the cabin is pressurised at 10,000 ft, they use a less 'bubbly' champagne that is specifically made for the purpose.

I always eat the food on the aircraft - but then I do travel at the pointed end.

I also like eating the airline food, it's all part of the holiday fun! :goodvibes

Lately i've done a bunch of transatlantic flights without eating. I'm fussy and usually the choices have something I can't take. I have taken sandwiches with me, but won't eat the pre-prepared ones the plane serve up. Then I maybe eat in the airport when I arrive.

I couldn't survive without eating on the plane lol. I like plane food (some parts of it better than others) it get me all excited lol, also it gives you something to do. I always wonder how such a small meal makes you full. I should add that i dont usually eat the breakfast on the way home coss i usually dont like the choice available, i have also had some trouble with the cold meal (usually sandwich) provided (we always fly VA) coss i dont like the fillings. However last year we asked if there were any children's sandwiches left and i got 2 sandwiches (jam and cheese) - these were very nice.

I think airline meals are like doner kebabs - you know they're disgusting but you have to eat them anyway :rotfl:

I usually enjoy the plane food, depenant on what it is. The last time we went to Florida was sept 2003 with Virgin all the meals provided were really nice and I would say the best I've had, well on a plane anyway! :rainbow:

Although even with the "Freedom Service" they try to strongly "encourage" you to eat straight away after take-off. If you say that you would rather wait, they tend to ask you "are you ready to eat yet" about every 15 minutes... :rotfl:
Yes, we've found this a few times but not so much on the more business-orientated routes. Besides, they get the picture when you say "not yet" more than a few times!

always remember a AA flight we had stweard came on pa and said ` its meat or chickien,if we havent got your first choice we will deffinutly have your second chice` .to me the food is part of our holiday even if its revolting. We have started to take our own food now as sometimes we want to eat before the meal comes around.
What i do miss is the choc ices and ice cream you used to get when the flim was on

I don't eat anything and i only drink water. This is only because i get really travel sick on planes (i am the one wearing travel bands and ear plugs!).
I make sure i eat enough a few hours before we board and take on a few bottles of water.I tend to sleep as much as poss on the plane anyway.

yes we do eat on the plane but it doesnt fill you up as much and then you end up buying stuff at the airport (junk food)[/B] popcorn::
