I like my privacy so I really prefer a hotel.

I hate sleeping at someone else's house, since I was little. I rarely get rest at a hotel...except at Disney, feels like home.

I am a family and friends person. We chose our home specifically to entertain, and to allow other to stay with us. We have guests in our home (overnight) at least 70 days each year.

When we travel, we prefer to stay with friends or family. I am not looking for privacy - I am looking for interaction.

To me, that is what life is all about...

would sleep in the car before i'd spend the night in someone's home - that's how much i dislike it.

(even my own parents home)

Other than my parents house or a hotel, yes I would rather stay at home!

I dont like bed bugs ,so I rather stay at someone else house. I know whos been sleeping in their bed.

I never mind staying at my own parents house because I always felt like I could be myself and move about the house as I pleased and that I wasn't intruding. Even with our kids, I know that if something breaks or gets dirty--it won't be the end of the world. We would still be polite and try to replace it/fix it/clean it of course---but I don't think it would be an embarrassing situation. We also have similar habits as my parents (in terms of sleeping hours, television watching, and things like air conditioning).

Most other places, I prefer hotels. I can control the temperature, I can make as much of a mess as I want, etc.

Depends on whose home it is. ;)

Staying at someone else's home is a nightmare for me. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: We stayed at my DH's cousin's house for 4 days last year and I couldn't wait to leave. Nothing against her, she was very hospitable, but I need my space. I suggested we stay at a hotel and his whole family thought I was being strange. :confused3 And of course my DH didn't want to offend them. Why should I pay to stay somewhere when I could stay at her house for free. Gee, I don't know, maybe so people will stay the h-e-double hockey sticks out of my way.

Hi, my name is Jen and I have personal space issues and am a bad houseguest.:rotfl2:

Totally depends upon the host and their home. Some people I'm happy to stay at because they're friendly and welcoming and their house is clean without there being some OCD emphasis on cleanliness. Other people like my ILS make me crazy because there are no boundaries (coming into our room at any time without knocking or even, the bathroom) and they follow you around cleaning up after you as if you are Pigpen trailing clouds of dirt.

This year when we went back east we incurred clouds of wrath by staying at a hotel. We actually had the blissful joy of them refusing to talk to us for months afterwards because we "disrespected" them by staying in a hotel. What a win-win situation. We didn't have to stay with them and they refused to speak to us for months -Yipppee!

I prefer hotels because my husband snores and I take too long in the morning to get ready and my hair gets all over the place when I dry it.

We really don't need to share our bad habits with friends dear enough to have us over.

Love a hotel, there are only 3 houses other than mine I will stay in.

Nah, I like staying in the home.

Waaay more fun IMO! Growing up we always did that when visiting cousins, ect. Makes it a whole lot better.

The sheets and comforter in someone's home are probably cleaner than one at a hotel.

I agree! I don't want to stay in anyones house and I really don't like them staying in mine -even though we have 3 spare bedrooms I STILL don't like people staying here.
I like someone coming in and cleaning my room and making my bed etc- when I am away I don't want to have to worry about doing all that crap myself!

During the big ice storm in NE last month we stayed at two different homes. One was my SIL's and the other was a good friends a mile away who had power. It was the 4 of us plus my parents and the dog at my friends. DH and I slept in her guest room and the girls, my parents and their dog slept in the finished basement. We would've preferred to stay in our own house but it got down to 46 degrees in the house. 57 hours without power! I'd stay anywhere warm!
