Do you clean your room?

clorox wipes and i wipe down everything and then i spray the clorox anywhere spray as well. I always check the sheets/bed before anything else too....looking for bugs.

I ALWAYS no matter where I go on vacation clean my room as soon as I get there. I bring lysol cleaner and wipes. I've been doing this since I was a teen. I'm not a crazy germ-a-phob; It's just that well I am a little picky! Especially when it comes to my kids taking a bath I know they are clean, but are they disenfected?
Have a nice "germ free" trip:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone, is it ok to put Lysol or the clorox anywhere in my my non-carry on, like a regular big bottle?

I am also going to bring gloves and those scrubbing bubbles disposable scrubbers with the disinfectant on the scrubber.

Thanks for all the tips!

Oh someone also mentioned to keep the Do Not Disturb sign if you do not want mousekeeping in your room after YOU cleaned it for the rest of your trip. I think I might just do this.

I wipe everything down with Lysol wipes. Counters, sink, tub, toilet, doorknobs, phone, remote etc. I always bring my own pillow (and DD's, DH doesn't care) more for comfort than health reasons. We drive and I nap, so the pillow is a necessity.

I work in a restaurant so I wash my hands alot. Any time I touch my hair, face, walk offline, handle raw food products or clean with anything other than a sanitized towel, I have to take off gloves, wash hands and then glove up again.....so handwashing has become a habit. I'm not as nuerotic at home because it's not required but I definately wash often....and well. One thing to remember is to wash with very warm water, lots of soap and to wash for long enough. I always count to 150 or sing Twinkle Twinkle 3 times as I wash to insure I'm washing properly. Oh, and I wash up to the elbows not just the hands since you can bump into people with your arms as well.

we never let any housekeepers in anymore, in any resort we stay in... after that hidden video went around (last year???) of nasty housekeeping habits of maids in hotels. Was it the contemporary... the maid blew her nose in the hand towel she was using to wipe the bathroom down, then right after blowing her nose in the hand towel, she wiped the glass with the hand towel. :faint:

i wipe down the room right when we enter w/ lysol wipes. with both kids and dh wiping everything down also, it takes us about 1 - 2 minutes to do everything. yes, we can catch things outside our room, but it's just nasty to me to think about germs being in "my" room. I don't think of the public spaces the same way I do my hotel room.

What video! :faint: Oh between this, the bugs, and the snake I am going to hire a private maid company to come in and clean my room before I get there! Hey that's a thought.

I give the sheets a quick look, too. A check for bugs and also to be sure they are clean.
Years ago we stayed in a hotel (it was a decent place --not Disney property), I turned down the covers and found...

Shredded Cheese :scared1:

Of course, the manager was very apologetic and we got a new and better room, but still I have to always check. You never know what might be hiding in those sheets.

I'm doing myself a favor and not watching that video. :scared1: How do not get housekeeping? Do you let them know at check in that you won't be needing it?

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: that's the funniest thing i've ever read!

where's the tag fairy????

We just put the do not disturb sign on the door, and i'll meet the maid in the hall occasionally, give her a tip, and get whatever supplies we need and give her our garbage, etc.

We wipe down with the Lysol wipes and use GermX after every attraction;)

.....hmmm.... how would you know they haven't hired that maid?

I generally keep my room tidy and bed made anyway, so most days I hang out the do not disturb sign. Partly because it doesn't need maid service everyday, and partly because I don't really want someone in the room while I'm away. I don't want the door left propped open while they do the bathroom or go to another unit etc.... while the probability of thieves (or snake:scared1:!) is very low, it's is a probability (my niece lost her wallet/laptop/camera at a hotel in Mtl that way).

Mtl-Montreal...

I don't wipe stuff down, but I do bring an allergen-reducing pillow case for my son.

If you put out the DND sign, you will get a big bag of toiletries hung up on your doorknob - at least we did recently.

I bring a can of lysol and spray down

remote
phone
handles (doorknob, faucet, etc)
Bedspread/linens
bathroom

It may not kill everything but it makes me feel better. Sheets and pillow cases I tend to examine, but they are pretty routinly changed, the blanket and cover are not. And lets face it the remote and phone are consistantly the most germ ridden.

I also NEVER drink from hotel glasses. Individually wrapped paper cups yes, but no glassware. I once picked up a coffee cup in the hotel room, removed the handy dandy paper "top" and it had liquid in the bottom and still smelled of coffee. Haven't trusted one since.

Other than that, I walk around barefoot and sleep on thier pillows (I often do bring my own pillow but sometimes when flying you just can't.

:confused3Is there any way all of us on this thread could arrange to stay in WDW rooms that only WE'VE all been in:rotfl2:?! We'd all feel much better and Disney could save a bundle on mousekeeping;).

I don't lay on the bedspread anyway, but my DH and DS do. I'm just wondering if it is a good idea to spray the spreads and blankets with anything. Some people could be allergic to chemicals in them and would have no way of knowing the linens they are lying on have been sprayed. I would rather people just remove the covers than spray them. Maybe I'm just overreacting, and I'm not trying to be critical, but it just made me wonder.

am i the only one who sprays all the bedding down with RID at the hotels?
don't know how effective it is aganst bedbugs but i've been doing this ever since my kids ended up with lice after we stayed at a hotel. can't say for certain if it was definately the hotel or from school but i always bring a can every hotel we stay at since-makes me feel better and if it kills bedbugs too makes me even happier.:goodvibes
