Do you buy your adult children anything for valentines day?

When I was getting ready to mail a package to my son his freshman year at college, my coworkers asked what I was doing and asked if they could "help." I always got candy from my Dad until he died. I was only 21 but I bet if he was alive I would still get something from him I buy my mom a box of candy and my kids also.

I don't buy for my adult children anymore. I did tall the way through High School. I always included my nieces and nephews through HS as well. Now I buy for my DGD and for my two little who live down the street. They all get some candy, DGD has graduated to an "adult" box of chocolates. I find little things to put in their gift bags and if I have time I'll add valentine balloon for the little ones. DH always has something special just from him, little flower arrangement for Kady and piggy bank money for the girls. He and I do not exchange. I always have a special meal, a cake or decorated cupcakes for dessert. I Love Holidays!

My parents always got us a "little something" till the grandkids came along. Now the adult children have been demoted. ;-)

I know what you mean. I miss my Mum terribly too.

My Mom did not have much money but she always had a box of chocolates for my sister and me. I always got her flowers and chocolate covered cherries or chocolate covered raspberry jelly. She loved that! I miss her so much too!

I have two boys and I always give them an assortment of their favorite candy. My oldest is almost 20 and away at college. I filled one of those one rate (12.35) boxes full of candy, plus two books from a series that he is reading and a package of pencils and lead. I shipped it yesterday, so he'll have it by Thursday.

My youngest son is almost 17 and I have filled a red bucket with candy for him. Tomorrow I need to run to the candy store where they make most everything right there and get some of his favorite jelly candies. I may also throw in $5 or $10 bill.

I got my husband a few of his favorite candies and a few bottles of Coke in the glass bottles. He loves those.

After my dear Dad died almost 8 years ago, I began doing a little something for my Mom. This year I bought a plastic heart shaped bowl and filled it with some of her favorite snacks including some caramel drizzled popcorn.

I LOVE all Holidays and I LOVE doing fun things for my loved ones.

I guess we are not gift givers in my family . I always though Valentines Day was for your significant other - not kids. Although I remember twice when I was a kid that my Dad got me something extra from the flower shop when he was buying mom some flowers. I did think that was pretty cool.

We've never gotten Valentine's gifts for our kids, and honestly about half the time DH and I don't even exchange with each other.

in our kids school they do 2 different valentines fundraisers
one group does personalized cookies 3/$1.00 (I send one to each of my kids)
the other and single flowers $2.00 each (they all get one of those too)

in grades k-8 they make sure each kid gets at least one cookie most get them from parents or siblings but in High School I guess they figure it can be like the Candy Canes on mean girls

My boys are 15 and 19 - they get a chocolate heart every year and look forward to it. I also bake something special that day.

My Dad gives my sisters and I a chocolate heart every year too.

I have to laugh at the idea of my mom getting me something for Valentine's Day. Has never and would never happen.

You need a group hug too. My mom and dad have been divorced for a long time. I would never expect anything from my dad even remotely kind, but at least my mom does special things.

I'm 34 and my DH is 40 and my mom gave us our Valentine's gifts today. She got us each a small Starbucks gift card and a note that she loved us! She gives us a little something every year - nothing extravagant, just a little something.

When I was in college I always really appreciated the sentiment. It made me feel really loved even at those times I was alone!

She also got both our kids Valentine's. They are all wrapped up though, so I'm not sure what it is, but probably a little toy and a piece of candy.

DH's parents gave all their children/spouses restaurant gift cards for Valentines Day. We got them last weekend. Dh is 38, his sisters are 36, and 30.

I think it's a nice gesture....totally not expected, but very nice nonetheless. DH and I got a $25 gift card to Old Chicago! His sisters and their spouses got gift cards to different restaurants as well.

I think in the 12 years Dh and I have been together, this is the first Valentine's Day where we've gotten gifts outside of just the two of us exchanging. I really don't expect this to be an annual thing.

I bought my teen DD a card. Valentine's day is not that big of a holiday for me.

DD is 22. I sent a card to her and one to her fiance along with $20 each. Money's tight for them and that will help them go out to dinner or buy some candy.

My mom sent me a Valentine's card every year until she died. My dad used to buy us each a box of chocolate when we were kids.

DH and I give each other cards and he picked up some tulips for me this year. We agreed on no gifts this year, though, since we're going on a big trip this summer and that's our Valentine's/Mother'sDay/Father'sDay/birthday gifts to each other.

Enjoy reading about everyone's tradtitions, celebrations, and gifts ~ no harm in keeping the Valentine Day spirit alive and well!!

IMO children are never too old, even ours who are 45, 43,42, and 40 xo . We exchange cards with perhaps our fave candies, baked goodies, or small tokens. Same with sweet grands who range 5-25yo and the long distant ones we send pkgs . I've rec'd a beautiful basket of flowers, a heart shaped box of peanut butter cups, Sat. was invited to a yummy lunch at Mimi's Cafe, and my lg distance DD sent me a beautiful ceramic wall hanging angel heart.

Will spend this aftn/pm with my Mom - I'll take her balloons, heart Dunkin Donuts, we'll do dinner together, and we also like to put flowers on Daddy's resting place She's like me and loves Valentine's Day . My dear DH collects baseball caps, so I got him an Air Force one he'll love, his fave candy, nuts, and I'll make him a special brkfast. This is our 49th Valentine's Day together ....we always do a lunch or dinner outing and he has a pkg wrapped for me that I have no idea what it is. So thankful for my many blessings.

My parents usually get DH & I a card and some movie tickets/restaurant GC's/cash. Last year my dad got me chocolate covered strawberries too.

We get DDs little gifts (everyone always gets a book; DD1 is getting a lalaloopsy & some chocolate; DD2&3 are getting tiny little stuffed princesses that I found at Hallmark) and I plan on always getting them something, no matter how old they are.

DH & I just exchange cards & a little something. He usually gets me chocolate, I get him some candy & this year a new mousepad since he said he needed a new one. We're ordering in (because I refuse to cook on Valentine's Day, lol) and I'm baking a cake.

Update - I got DD (25) and DS's girlfriend nail polish and 4pc Whitman box - got "the boys" - DS and DD's boyfriend Valentine skittles - gift bag for granddaughter (2 1/20 - puzzle, book, sunglasses,...etc - gotta love the $1 Target bins!!
