Do you buy your adult children anything for valentines day?

If I could only exchange gifts for one holiday I think it would be for Valentine's Day. I love that it is all about love and low key. Just a little something is perfect.

Once I had kids my parents stopped giving us gifts and only give to our kids. For me, I think that when my kids are grown I will do the opposite or at least do a little something for each. Kids get tons of stuff. But as an adult it's fun to get a little treat sometimes - in a world where for us practicality usually rules.

Guess I'm in the minority. I've always given my children a gift for Valentine's Day.

Now that they're adults, I still send a Valentine's card, a small gift (this year a book), and some candy.

We don't do a blessd thing! LOL. Even as a kid I thought Valentines day was the most commercial, made up holiday known to man.
Seriously, I'm dating a great guy and because he doesn't give me stale candy or flowers I break up with him?
I need a day for my dh to tell me he loves me?

talk about consumerism run amok. this holiday is about as phoney as it gets. LOL

In some ways I agree with you. I don't think of it as a holiday where you need to buy a diamond necklace, or overpriced flowers, etc. But I think it is fun to give little treats or things people can use without going overboard. I absolutely HATE the guilt trip jewelry and flower commercials on TV right now.

I actually tell my husband NOT to get flowers, we would rather spend the money doing things together. And, we never go out to eat on the 14th because that plays into the commercialism (and we live in a smaller town where there are few choices and they get crowded).

You can make the holiday just for fun (and I think what people posted here are just that), but the merchants would probably like you to take it to a more phoney level. :)

I always get my boys little treats and plan to forever. My Mom always takes us to dinner the weekend following Valentine's Day for our treat. We always look forward too it.
