Another one of those "what do you call it" threads.

I'm not Lizzie Borden, I ask, not axe. ;)

Ask.

(Please don't let anyone say that they INTENTIONALLY say axe. )

Ask.
Don't people know those a 2 different words??!!

I ask , I escape and I never go to the libary I only visit the library !

Lol, I've never heard anyone use 'axe' in that way. If someone axes me something, I'll make sure that they don't want to chop me up!

I always ask, but some people I know actually ast. Yes that's
a-s-t.

I swear, Blondie, the hair on the back of my neck stood up when I saw this!!

I have a degree in English and speech so mispronunciations AND bad spelling drive me NUTS!!

I had an co worker who CONSTANTLY said 'axe' instead of ask... grrrrrrrr..... until I told her "if you say that one more time I will AXE you!!!"

The "S" goes beFORE the "K"!!!

I HATE it when people "axe" questions - and yes I have heard a few people say that around here. "Excape" really bothers me too, as does "libary"! Another one that really bugs me when people put a "t" on the end of "across" - as in, "He lives acrosst the street from me."

I heard a kid, the other day, say that he was going to go axe his Mom if he could go somewhere & I just wanted to say "If you axe your Mom the only place you'll go is prison "

I ask. Do you Wash the dishes or warsh the dishes? I wash, but here in southern Kansas alot of people warsh.

My mother warshes them, but I wash them.

The libary one always makes me smile. My mom was the school librarian when I was growing up. Every time we went to the store, some kid would yell, "Hey Mom! That's my libary teacher!" :)

I ask! How about when people say Birfday? where do they see an F inBirthday?

Definitely “ask.” My grandmother used to say “warsh.” (But she also used to call yellow beans “butter beans” and potatoes “ba-dae-duz.”) It also bothers me when people say, “Where’s he at?” or “I seen something.”

This thread is cracking me up. Especially with the birfday one. Oh, that one had me laughing right out loud!!!:D :D
