I HATE it when people "axe" questions - and yes I have heard a few people say that around here. "Excape" really bothers me too, as does "libary"! Another one that really bugs me when people put a "t" on the end of "across" - as in, "He lives acrosst the street from me."
I heard a kid, the other day, say that he was going to go axe his Mom if he could go somewhere & I just wanted to say "If you axe your Mom the only place you'll go is prison "
The libary one always makes me smile. My mom was the school librarian when I was growing up. Every time we went to the store, some kid would yell, "Hey Mom! That's my libary teacher!"
Definitely ask. My grandmother used to say warsh. (But she also used to call yellow beans butter beans and potatoes ba-dae-duz.) It also bothers me when people say, Wheres he at? or I seen something.
